“Confortable cabin in the forest”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 17, 2014

First the accommodations is very spacious and clean and the staff is very friendly.
However, there is no service (or few) and the hotel is quite far from downtown, so if you have don't have a car you will probably waste a lot of time and money with taxis (or walk a lot).
We had a great time at Patagonia Villa but we were outside all day long.
We have also to mention that the "chalet" is close to the road, so we had to support the noise of the local "souped-up" cars and sometimes also the barking dogs (there are a lot of dogs in the neighborhood).
If you are used to a "traditional" 3 or 4 stars, it's probably not the place to go, but if you prefer something different ...

This was a great way to experience Ushuaia - we could spend the days walking Tierra del Fuego or up the Glaciar and then spend the nights in a lovely secluded cabin in the forest. The hosts are extremely helpful and friendly and speak excellent English. Cabins are clean, warm and spacious with lots of lovely windows on to the forest around - I can see how great they would be for a ski holiday as well.

This is a lovely place to stay so I'll get the main drawback out of the way quickly - from the gate there are flights of wooden steps to reception which are very difficult to negotiate with suitcases. This is a problem for which there is no obvious solution.
We asked to check in early and were fortunate to be upgraded to a cabin with Jacuzzi because it was the first one available. The cabin was on three floors, entry with kitchen and seating area, next level a lounge with sofa and coffee table, next level bedroom and bathroom. All rooms are large and nicely furnished with a beautiful old wardrobe in the bedroom and a king-size bed. The bathroom is huge and it's lovely to lie in the bath looking out into the trees. Underfloor heating provides wonderful coziness but don't leave a bag on the floor with chocolate biscuits in it as I did! A basic breakfast is provided in the kitchen; fresh bread with jam or cream cheese, cornflakes and yoghurt. We had to clean out the coffee machine but it then made excellent strong coffee. Lighting is a bit of a problem in this room, it's very dim. The walk into town takes about 15 minutes and the cabin is self-catering. However there's a list of take-away places who will deliver. Free Wi-Fi but you need to find the spot in the cabin to pick up the signal.
This is a very large, warm comfortable cabin which reminded me of a ski lodge.

Room Tip: Ask for an upgrade to a cabin with jacuzzi

The accommodation was spacious, warm and staff extremely helpful. We stayed in no 2 villa, a high-ceilinged loft chalet. It was set amongst a pretty stand of light spruce which allowed much light and airflow. However, you need to be aware of several factors that to my mind let down the cosy ambience and feeling of seclusion. Traffic noise from the busy highway below; a race-track for souped-up cars. The water is kept just short of hot. Breakfast is virtually non-existent. Day one included yoghurt, cornflakes, bread, butter, jam and cheese. Day two yoghurts not replenished. Kitchen implements are few and far between. Some of the cutlery was unusable. Guests need to arrive well-stocked from the supermarket and home kitchen. Access from the road is a climb up a rough shingle pathway then steps up to villas so not suitable for handicapped people. Shower curtain rail kept falling down. Grounds are illuminated at night and the white blinds do little to keep sleeping area dark. Neighbouring dogs are friendly, cute but bark at every car passing through the evening. Not good accommodation for light sleepers.

Patagonia Villa was lovely! They were so nice to upgrade us to a one bedroom lodge that has a kitchen and living room. Our bedroom was upstairs. We initially just booked for a room so this was such a nice novelty to have some space and that homely feeling. Cleanliness and orderliness wise it was set up fine and provided all the facilities that we need. We like the fact that it's not in the centre where all the shops etc are. The taxi ride is like 30 pesos to the centre which is reasonable. They provided us milk, bread and jams and coffee and tea to choose from for breakfast. Take note though as it's in the hilly/mountainside, if you have walking difficulties then this might be something to consider as there is no lift facilities in here to take you up and down. This is not a luxury hotel so don't expect designer furniture, sheets etc. But overall, I would recommend this place as a choice to stay if you want somewhere warm and cozy to relax after a full day's tour in Ushuaia!

This Patagonia Villa is a collection of small Patagonia style lodges nestled in a forest covered hillside close to the city centre. The lodge we had was well equipped with a living room, kitchen (small) and large bedroom with a comfortable king-sized bed. The heated floors are an extra bonus and the kitchen is well enough equipped for preparing dimple meals. Breakfast is included and one makes it themsrlbes from items left gor this purpose in the litchen.

It is a lovely retreat a 15 to 20 minute walk from the downtown area, or a local bus stops close by and for 4 pesos (approx) a short ride takes one most anywhere. Marcela (who met us at reception) was very helpful in every way and offered to make arrangements for tours and reservations at local restaurants.

The only issue we had was the ever present dogs (belonging to neighbours so out of the hotel owners control) who barked at times during the night...in some ways though this added to the experience as well.

After arriving in a blizzard it was great to arrive in at the lodge. The rooms, well little houses are very warm and cosy and the staff extremely helpful and even bring you croissants when you have to get up early for the trips. The only slight issue is that it is a bit far out of the town and it's a taxi ride each way but apart from that I would recommend staying here.
