I have stayed for three nights and days at this wonderful hotel at one of the most spectacular places and landscapes in Arghentina.
I found the hotel actually derserves its five stars, with unusual care on every signal detail at rooms, spa, attention and dining room. Food is superb as well as breakfast. Views at the Beagle channel are unique and can not be seen from any other hotel at Ushuaia.
However, what we enjoyed most was the fçpersonal and friendly care by staff, management and owners, who are eprsonally involved to certify your stay will be remembered for years...until next visit which will be shorter than thought!

Last month I went to Ushuaia, with my two youngest sons, to practice ski. We arrived to Las Hayas Hotel, which is only 15 minutes away from the airport by car. It is located on a hill where you can take pleasure in the most fantastic view! From there you can see the entire city, the Beagle Canal and the surroounding snow topped mountains.

While we were checking in, our luggage was automatically being taken care of. As I went up to my room I was nicely surprised to find that it was very spacy and cozy. The decoration and furniture was lovely: a great bed, a sofa, armchairs.... an excellent environment to relax. I even had a desk (in case I wanted to work?!!). The bathroom was also a nice surprise, everything was just perfect.

Cerro Castor is approximately 30 minutes away from the hotel and we enjoyed the slopes very much. When we returned to the hotel, after a day out in the freezing cold, we headed straight to the spa to give ourselves an extra treat. To get there we walked through an amazing glass window corridor, where we could see the snow covered forest from both sides. There, we had access to the swimming pool, jacuzzi, and the most soothing massage sessions. It was all wonderful.

In the evenings, my favorite place was the chimney, where I could peacefully sit down to read. The restaurant was also superb! Great food, wines, attention, music.....

I went back home feeling brand new. I recommend this outstanding place to get away from it all!

“A Nice Stop in Ushuaia”

We stayed at Las Hayas for one night prior to boarding the Mare Australis in Ushuaia. We arrived about an hour late, and our hotel transfer wasn't there. Taxis were readily available at the terminal, however, and we had no problem getting to the hotel. It's about a 10 to 15 minute ride from the airport. Upon arrival, we were taken to our room, and it was fine. We got a standard room for $275, and it was reasonably large, comfortable and well equiped. Also, it had a view of the port from its hillside perch. While not deluxe, the hotel rooms are very nice.
We then had lunch in the lounge downstairs (2nd level), along with a drink, and we then relaxed after our trip. During the next few hours, a couple of tour groups arrived, but they were pretty unobtrusive. The hotel also has a couple of computers with free email service, and I was able to check my email. They also have free wifi in the hotel.
That evening, we had dinner at Le Martial and it was excellent. I would recommend this to anyone who stays at the hotel. The service was outstanding, and the food was excellent. We left the next morning to check in and leave our bags at the Cruceros Australis terminal in the center of Ushuaia. Our checkout was easy and the hotel got us a taxi to the center of town. Breakfast (so-so) was included.

“Good, not great”

Pluses:
Great view
Nice dining room with good food
Very capable staff and very helpful
Our room was the suite above the main entrance on the 3rd floor. Two rooms plus a separate bath. It was very spacious.

Negatives:
Expensive
Finish work inside the hotel is very poor, (moulding, lighting, etc). This may be more a reflection on the quality of craftsmen in the area than anything.
Remote from the city center. Yes, they have a bus but it would be nice to be able to walk easily to and from town

And, yes, this is not a 5-Star hotel by US standards, but for this little corner of the world, sure. Its the nicest place in town!

“Worst hotel for the money”

Las Hayas Resort Hotel

Feb 16, 2008

This hotel is a one of the biggest rip offs I've stayed in. There is nothing luxurious save for the prices. The beds are soft and lumpy. The towels smell of tobacco. The wireless didn't work and when I complained, they said it doesn't work with dell computers! (which mine was) The furniture is bargain basement oak and the decorating ridiculous. All that said, for 100 dollars a night instead of 275, the hotel would have been OK.
