“interesting”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 29, 2014

Maybe we had bad luck, but there where a lot of rooms and wings closed when we visited the museum. We saw the model ships, the renovated and the old jail wing. But its an interesting museum. There are a lot of photographies and stories about the early days in Ushuaia and the prisoners there. It is worth to see it!

“A good and different museum experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 29, 2014

I loved the part of the museum which exhibits the history of the prison and first discoveries of Ushuaia is very interesting. The rest was not worth it for me, bad lighting or no lighting on the last exhibion.
But still worth the price, though you do want to leave the prison when you are done ;)

“The five in one Museum.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 21, 2014

This is a five in one museum as it has many different sections showcasing the different museums in one place. There is a prison museum which is the actual prison preserved the way it was in the olden times when prisoners for life were brought to this place from where no one could escape. Besides this there is the Yamana tribe gallery, a post office gallery, a stuffed birds and sea-life gallery, a huge maritime museum with a special section on Antarctic exploration and research, an art gallery showcasing modern art exhibitions, some train engines and coaches from the prisoners train and a light house copy.

“Plenty to occupy an afternoon”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 13, 2014

We spent more time than we expected here. There were many different aspects of history and an art gallery. we visited early in the morning and then returned later in the day as the ticket is valid over 2 days. If you are interested in penal history and /or Antarctic explorers it is worth a visit.

“Interesting Place”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 5, 2014

Lots of history within and many stories and photos and some life size models of past inmates. There is a mixture of prison history, maritime history and Ushuaia history all mixed in together, which was a little annoying and confusing. I think it would have been better to have all the prison history together and so on. Entry was 110 pesos per person.
