“Great Experience!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 7, 2013 via mobile

Stayed 4 nights here and it was fantastic. Very beautiful and the staff was FANTASTIC! They helped us a lot and were so kind. Short walk to the Main Street so location is great. Would definitely stay here again!

Mixture of stone and wood very pleasant, but could do with a nice log fire place to warm the atmosphere! every thing in this hotel was good. The reception and help given, the pack lunches arranged(this is important as many excursions are day long and one needs to organize this) cleanliness and space. the rooms were fairly small but there were a lot of areas in the hotel where you could chill out comfortably. no internet in the rooms only in common areas. Breakfast was excellent! fresh fruits, and fresh squeeze orange juice, a treat. Lots of choice on their breakfast buffet and excellent 'media lunas'! for people with walking problems it may be a little way out, but for those who walk comfortably hotel is very central and can walk everywhere, bus station, tour agents, restaurants, shops.

My needs are simple - the hotel must be clean, comfortable, safe, convenient, and with accommodating staff. The Patagonia Queen hits all the buttons. It is a very charming small hotel. The use of wood and the multiple common areas make you feel as if you were in a small renovated mansion. There is a small bar in the lobby as well. Very comfortable. The bedrooms are small, but they are clean and quiet. The bathrooms are adequate and have lots of hot water. The included breakfast buffet was good but not over the top, which was good because I had already eaten far too much on this trip. There is internet in the lobby area, as well as individual computers set up in a nook on the second floor. The third floor has a very nice game room including pool table and ping pong. Great way to spend a quiet evening. This town does not offer much more than some gellato after dark. The location is excellent. This is a desolate area of the world and taxi cabs were few. It is a very easy walk to the main part of town as well as banks, restaurants, and supermarkets which are all located on the one main street. There are many large hotels in the surrounding area but they are very isolated and you would need your own car or depend on local transportation, which is spotty. That alone makes this the best choice to stay in El Calafate. The staff were all exceedingly helpful and friendly. Thanks for all of your help Pablo, Jonathon, and Rafael. My original afternoon flight was rescheduled for a very early morning arrival. I had planned on wandering around the town for hours until I could check in. However the manager very kindly found an open room and allowed me to check in early. This was a great kindness that was very much appreciated. The staff was also very helpful in arranging some great tours of the surrounding areas (glaciers, mountains, etc.) This hotel offers everything you could need during your stay in El Calafate and I highly recommend it.

Room Tip: I suppose a second floor room might be a little quieter as the first floor rooms are just off of the...

Great hotel in a central location. The hotel has the feel of a hostel in that there are common areas where people can (and do) congregate to share their stories from their respective excursions. The hotel has a cozy feel; lots of wood, comfortable chairs, nicely appointed in general. The rooms are comfortable and the bathrooms are clean. Great water pressure in the shower, comfortable bed. The room keys are skeleton keys which I thought was a nice touch. Another nice service was laundry; they washed and folded an entire bag of laundry for us for $100 pesos which was a steal! $10 for an entire load while most hotels charge $5 per garment. The staff was very friendly and attentive, helping us in any way that they could. The only reason I would not give five stars is the lack of wifi in the rooms, but it is available in the common areas and you should probably be out enjoying what El Calafate has to offer anyway rather than checking Facebook. Overall, great experience.

This place was a pleasant surprise for a boutique hotel in this part of the world. The hotel has a nice floor plan, the room we were in (101) was clean and our bed was comfortable. Bathroom was clean with fresh smelling towels, which I have to say, puts a couple of highly rated hotels we stayed in Buenos Aires to shame. The location was perfect for the kind of travelers we are--we like to explore on foot. It's walking distance to the center of town where the shops and restaurants are and it's also a convenient stroll to the boardwalk. Although breakfast was typical, it was also better than the standard fare. Even coffee was made fresh as we sat for breakfast. The staff were very helpful and more than happy to give suggestions when asked for help. Pablo was very charming and always smiling, and Rafael, the manager was as knowledgeable, helpful and entertaining young family man who loves running marathons.

A clean, simple hotel, right in town. A bit of local flavor, but mostly just a solid choice (akin to staying at a Hampton Inn or Marriott Courtyard). Walkable to 'downtown' El Calafate. (We walked to the casino and to a great dinner). WIFI is only in the bar/lobby. Perfectly pleased with this.

Room Tip: The room right next to the common area (maybe #100 or 101?) could get WIFI; otherwise no WIFI in roo...

Very close to the main street, close to restaurants and souvenir shops and to the lake. There are about 3 laundromats in town. The front desk are very friendly, polite and attentive. They gave us our room keys even without telling them our room number, after being out during the day.
