“unfriendliest staff ever”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed March 8, 2013

I was forced to stay at this place for 3 nights as all other places were full. The receptionist treated me like I had the pest. The dorm rooms don't have lockers and only one key for everyone inside. Kind of difficult to keep your valuables. There is a room service that makes your bed daily - this is about the only positive thing to say about this place. Watchout for things you put in the community fridge in the dining room. When I was there a bunch of locals roamed the place and they seemed to like my stuff. Noisy they were until late at night, early morning. The management does not seem to care.

Room Tip: simply dont go there

Good location in El Calafate.
The rooms (hotel) we got were spacious enough and clean.
There is free wifi and drinkable water.
The common fridge in the corridor is quite noisy during the night, so it'd be better to ask for a room not too close to it.
The breakfast is very basic but there is a good place to have breakfast in 15 meters from the hotel (Don Luis).
We haven't seen the dormitory and bungalow rooms but it seems to be a large range of accomodation types.

A nice clean cosy place 5 minutes walk from the main street. Has its own parking lot and free wi-fi. The rooms are spacious and warm. The staff speaks some English. A good value for money. Would definitely stay here again.

We stayed one night in this hostel. They dont placed us in the back of the area. There was a quite good kitchen and the room was clean. Shower was basic, but OK. The price was very good. We are going to return. Do not expect luxury things, but it is much better than some others in El Calafate. There was some noise during the night, which can be very anoying for somebody.

Room Tip: take the double room with big bed

Because otherwise this place is awesome. CLEAN, OMG, clean, big room, the best shower in all of Patagonia, staff sort of helpful, speak some English, tolerate bad gringo spanish BUT the place is on the edge of town near a dance hall. We are used to Patagonia being wide awake at midnight, but last Saturday night, the music went on til nearly 2am. Not a lot of gringos here and the cabanas or other rooms might be quieter, but I doubt it.
Friday night was better, but ummm, dogs barked til nearly 1am too. THis is a case where closer to the main drag might be quieter.
Oh and the WiFi seems to only work near the check in desk.
Wish it weren't so , because everything else was awesome.
