This is, without a doubt, the best hostel I have stayed at, and I've spent a fair share of nights in hostels. I stayed here this past May during my mid-semester break (I'm studying abroad in Buenos Aires). There is a wonderful lower level which is full of tables. I played many of their board games there (including an Argentine version of Taboo, including famous Argentine people and slang) and had an extremely easy time getting to know and talk with other hostel stayers, including a really nice person from Spain. The staff are really laid back but will go out of their way to help you (and always greet you with an Argentine kiss). We were full of questions throughout our stay there, and they never got aggravated. You can book your excursions with them for the same price as everyone else (My friends and I didn't believe this when they told us, so we walked around town asking for prices. It really is the same). It's a very short (10 minute max) walk to the bus terminal, and just a few minutes more to Lago Argentino, the largest lake in Argentina. The best/worst part about this hostel is that it is on the top of a hill. This was amazing because you had the most beautiful views from the hostel that you could ever imagine. It could be taken as bad only because you have to walk up the hill. It's not really that steep and definitely "vale la pena" (it's worth the pain). For those who can't live without their technology, the internet is free except during late at night to early in the morning (but who would want to use it then, anyway?), and there isn't a tv (but I promise you won't need it).
*One important piece of information: If you happen to be allergic to dogs, do not stay at this hostel (or take lots of medication with you). They own a puppy and let it come inside and romp around. It is the most adorable little puppy and is extremely well trained (won't go into the kitchen or the guests' rooms). Not a hassle at all. Either way, you should bring your meds because Argentina is full of dogs everywhere. We would walk around town and end up with a pack of dogs following us.
I would recommend this hostel hands down!
