“Best place in Patagonia !”

Great staff! Great BBQs! Very-ultra cost effective prices - you get a good deal for your money. Useful internet connection and beer fridge. The breakfast is simply wonderful. The staff arranged us an airport pickup which was very descent.

The cabins and the dorms are both good quality.
A little far from the city center - but not a deal - 5 minutes walk uphill :-)
Will definetly return there.

Room Tip: the cabins are superb.

The hostel is placed in an amazing location, on a hill with a great view over El Calafate and Lago Argentino.
The atmosphere is familiar and hostel guys are really helpful and nice.
However it is a little bit dirty and the bathroom cannot be considered a real bathroom (almost impossible to move inside it!), at least in our double room.

Very nice and helpful staff, they arrange all the excursions without charging a comission. The walk to the hostel is a bit tiring (I am the lazy type) but the view compensates for it and most excursions offer hotel pickup anyway. The hostel is very nicely decorated itself. The beds and bathrooms are ok, the breakfast is nice and there is heating. The best part of it was the atmosphere, mostly created by the staff that organized barbeques and invited us for a jenga game and beer in the evening so we got to meet everyone. The only bad thing is that there are not enough plugs so if there are many people you might have to fight for one. Still, I would totally recommend it.

This hostel is a little off the beaten track. 10 min walk from the centre of town but it has it's advantages that are worth considering.

I Keu Ken is a 30 second walk from the biggest supermarket in El Calafate. The views from I Keu Ken are amazing of the lake. The people there are really nice and helpful.

We stayed in a private bedroom with ensuite. The room is nothing special but it was clean and the heater worked really well. The shower was a bit weird having no shower recess rather the water just went onto the floor of the bathroom and the was a squeegee to push it into the drain once you were done. I later learnt that this is a common thing in Argentina.

The common area was really nice and cozy and there is an open fire pit outside with great views all around.

Mariano was really helpful and keen to make sure our trip was memorable in El Calafate. He's a great guy who speaks really good english.

We came back to El Calafate and i Keu Ken was shut for holidays so stayed we had to stay in another hostel called Nakel Yenu which is apparently a sister hostel. We thought this place was terrible. We'd have no hesitation staying at i Keu Ken if ever we came back to El Calafate.

Stayed for a couple of nights at I Keu Ken in January. We arrived without a booking and even though they were full the staff made arrangements so we could stay (they found us a bed at the storage room at a very decent price). We loved the atmosphere of this cozy hostel and its overfriendly staff. The breakfast is good and the kitchen facilities very clean. The barbecue is excellent!!! If you get the chance: try it. The meat is extraordinary and the salads are superb and you get as much wine as you want.
Another plus are the comfortable sofas in the common area, the board games and the supermarket at a 3minute walking distance.

We also booked a tour to the glacier through them. Fair prices and the staff's recommendations hold true.

Thanks for an unforgettable stay!

We stayed in the double area with a kitchen space in the back. It was pretty run down, but good for the price and it did have a great view of the town and the lake (although the walk to town was long at night). The breakfast was stale rolls with jam -- worse than most places we stayed in Argentina, and the employees were sort of hit or miss. One guy was really nice and gave us great restaurant recommendations, but the morning staff didn't know anything at all about driving times to very common destinations (the glacier or El Chalten!) and they somehow misinformed us about the laundry service there so we ended up paying about $20 US dollars for 1 load of laundry. Not a good way to keep your hostel customers happy.

Loved this hostel. Great outdoor spaces with views of town and lake. Ten minute walk to town. Very clean, ample bathrooms and large dorms. Staff was friendly and informative. I'll definitely be back!
