“Wonderful Property (with caveats)”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 9, 2013

Really enjoyed our three night stay at this hotel. Beautiful property in a nice setting with views of the lake. The rooms were very modern, comfortable and clean. The rooms were very spacious and the bathroom was a good size. My wife really enjoyed the rather large (long) tub and had several nice baths. The breakfasts in the morning were excellent with a large variety of food choices. A very nice setting and lots of seating so you never felt crowded. The services in all the areas of the hotel were excellent. My wife wasn't feeling great several of the days we were there and the room service was prompt when she used it on one occasion. We also ate at the bar on several occasions and the food was great and the service excellent. We used the indoor pool several times and spent an afternoon on the patio reading. Contrary to other reviews, we found some nice sitting areas to read and sit with other other people and visit.
The not so good is the hotel is a mile and a half from the center of town. The road to town is very busy and there is only a very dusty and rocky shoulder to walk on. We did not have a car and the only alternative to walking was taking a taxi. We noticed the hotel had a small bus and wonder why they couldn't have provided a free shuttle service to the town on the hour or half hour. It would be a greatly appreciated service especially for tour groups that don't have transportation. Despite this one downside, we thought this was a wonderful hotel and enjoyed our stay very much.

Room Tip: Even rooms have views of the lake. Odd room don't have much of a view but are quiet.

We chose this hotel in Bariloche for its price/quality ratio and were not disappointed! The staff here is extremely helpful, speaks English and will arrange almost everything for you.

The rooms are spacious and clean, the beds are big as well. If you are planning a stay in Bariloche, definitely have a look at Villa Huinid, located only 1.5 km out of the city center.

We stayed one night on our honey moon, it's a really nice place out of town with nice views of the lake and a great buffet breakfast, but we are a young couple and probably won't be staying here again, mainly because it's like any other hotel... not very exciting; but we think it's a great place for older couples or families with children.
The spa it's really nice, we went swimming and had a great time, but walking from the swimming pool to the dressing room it was freezing!
At the bar I asked for a Dry Martini (shaken not stirred), but unfortunately the Bartender prepared martini seco straight from the bottle with a tiny bit of gin, which ended up being a yellowish drink that tasted like white wine, (and had nothing to do with gin and vermouth) I said I never drank a dry martini like that before and he kindly offered me to prepared it like I wanted it, but the bar didn't have vermouth.

San Carlos de Bariloche is a tourist place, so do not expect find out a good place and good price at the same time. Once in the rain, be wet! If you agree with this, so this is the right place to stay. Large bedrooms, king beds, heated floor, very good service and a great view of Nahuel Huapi lake from every front rooms. Certainly it will value every dolar you should pay.

Room Tip: Front rooms to the lake view (of course!).

Our stay at this hotel (4 nights) was very pleasant, people were very courteous and attentive. You must book the rooms with the view of Lake Nahuel Huapi, it's gorgeous! The breakfast is very good. Our first meal was not good at all, thus we decided to try all other meals elsewhere. Very recommendable. If you're staying for a while, I recommend that you rent a vehicle.

When I travel for a week in any country, especially if I stay in the same town, I stay in two hotels so that I may compare experiences and possibly meet other interesting people. The Villa was a great decision after The Edelweiss (see my other review), largely because it is an immaculately run, impressive 5-star hotel across from The Lake here in Bariloche and yet only 2.6 Kilometers outside of town. It could be a mini Ritz Carlton on many levels, from the hotel and rooms to the staff and ambiance. I was able to secure a favorable rate on Hotels.com however I do understand it can be pricey.

In the future when I travel here with a special lady I would probably elect to rent a Cottage down below which seem rather charming, more isolated and thus romantic.

Good place, clean, friendly staff.

Breakfast like a market place nothing special to mention.

Spacious rooms but extremely hot, something to do with their heating system. Mediocre gym and pool. Restaurant has limited options and comparatively expensive.

Overall, a good place but definitely not the best !
