This is a charming small hotel with beautiful decor, pleasant rooms with sun decks, a good restaurant and very friendly staff (Augustina at the front desk was particularly helpful when we discovered our travel agent had botched our return flight from Bariloche to BA).
The weather during our stay was beautiful, so we spent many hours on the dock down by the lake (I don't know if most guests even know it exists). The spa facility is very nice, too.

A good hotel.

Our room was very nice and had an excellent view over the lake.

Service was fairly prompt, with the manager being the best proponent, alrhough room service at times could be slow. The restaurant was excellent but averagely priced - for Argentina, it was not cheap.

Facilities were good. The bar was nice, and there was a separate area for kids, which included DVDs, games and a games console. The sauna and steam room were well maintained, but the pool (inside and outside - quite a strange construction) was chilly at times.

Worth a stay.

“So - So”

We stayed for 4 nights having read rave reviews about the hotel. The bedrooms and bathrooms were both large with some great views from the first room we stayed in. Despite that the hotel was lacking in any form of atmosphere and we could have been anywhere once we entered the building. Described as suites, the rooms did not have a separate living area and it all felt very claustrophobic. Having spent us$220 per night which is the most expensive hotel we stayed in whilst in Argentina the experience was fairly disappointing.

The hotel was booked by Cintia Stella of WOW! Argentina. I selected it from several choices presented by Cintia. She is a first rate travel agent who provided me with sufficient information to make a decision. I am very glad I used her services.

Cintia booked us for massages on the day of our arrival. As we pulled into the driveway, Fabian came out to greet us and handle the luggage. A very quick checkin and we were escorted to our room. As we passed the bar, Alejandra asked if we wanted anything. We requested some of the "champagne" from Argentina, which she brought to us straightaway. We put on our robes and slippers and while my friend had her massage, I relaxed on the deck outside our room overlooking the beautiful lake, forest and gardens of Aldebaran. The room also had a marvelous view of the mountains sparkling with snow in the sun.
The rooms are just as pictured on the webiste, finished in natural stone tile, highly polished wood and lovely muted earth tones. The beds are firm and fitted with crisp high quality linens. Very comfortable. the rooms are very large. The bathroom is also large and well designed. The hotel's bath amenities are very nice.

Suzie is the hotel massuesse and she is a genius. She combines Thai, Indian, and Swedish techniques for a marvelous healing and relaxing treatment. It is very gentle and yet it is highly therapuetic. After 18 hours of plane travel I was totally relaxed and pain free. For an eighty minute treatment she charges roughly $40 (we loved it so much we both booked for additional massages). There is a sauna and large pool.

We ate that night in the hotel and a fresh lake trout was featured. It is very good. We ate at the hotel again later in the week and had very good pizzas.

The common rooms of the hotel are splendid, very comfortable and clean. The entire hotel is spotless. The housekeeping staff is very efficient. Every person on staff from chef, to front desk, to wait staff is professional, charming and very welcoming. We had a number of areas where we could enjoy our coffee or a drink. The hotel also offered free email access. This is a wonderful, wonderful hotel.

The only "down" is that there is not a window you could open in our room (7) and it did become warm at night. We did not leave the door to the deck open except for brief periods.

I would love to take my husband to this hotel, it is very romantic, private and well out of the activity hub of Bariloche, but convenient to everything. I recommend it highly.

“Peaceful, cosy and outstanding service - our favorite!”

Aldebaran Hotel & Spa

We are just returning from 3 nights at the Aldebaran. As soon as we arrived, we were met at the airport by Aldo and had a sense of the genuine care and attention that the hotel places on your well-being and enjoyment. He is extremely informative about the area, and had lots of great suggestions for us how to plan our visit. He even gave us a quick tour of Bariloche that night along the way to the hotel, highlighting for us the best places to eat chocolates and enjoy great meals.

We arrived late at the hotel and enjoyed an excellent meal at the restaurant. The chef uses fresh local ingredients and the all meals we enjoyed at the Aldebaran were outstanding, including breakfast which is a filling buffet of fresh fruits, home baked breads, meats, cheeses and jams. What's nice is that you can take your dessert and coffee (or wine and cheese for that matter) by the fireplace or by the pool or your room or on the terrace - each of which are cosy and special. Every night you find a small homemade cookie or alfajor by your beds for sweet dreams.

In general, we found that we did not need a car during our stay - the hotel (Alsefina) arranged a wonderful Remise driver (Gonzalo - who also shared a lot of interesting information about the area) to take us to Cerro Catedral in the mornings for skiing and bring us back at the end of the day. It was very reasonable, about US$12. Alsefina was so thoughtful that she not only organized a ski lesson for our small son, but also had the director of the ski school meet us at the car park and help carry all our gear!

Only on our last day did we decide to travel along the Circuito Chico and also visit Bariloche. Aldo called around and found us a deal on a rental car and also highlighted for us on the Circuito interesting places where we could go hiking, have nice vistas and even a spot where we could eat a sandwich at the top of a mountain with the very best view. He even offered to make a reservation for us at the Llao Llao so we could go for a coffee and see this historic place. You sense that the staff at the Aldebaran are there to do all the legwork and make great suggestions to ensure that you enjoy your visit - and relax.

The morning we checked out Alsefina noticed that our rental car tire was low on air and so had another member of the staff come out and change the tire so that we could get out on the Circuito Chico safely!

By the way, our coffee at the Llao Llao was just lovely, however to be perfectly honest, even if price were no object I would still choose the Aldebaran over the Llao Llao for the personalized attention, excellent service and the cosiness of staying in a small hotel.
