“Not a "palace;" needs some updates”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 24, 2013

I stayed at the Kenton Palace because it was near the office where I was working. Although nice enough, it's no palace and could use some updates soon. What first caught my eye was the worn and dirty carpeting in upper hallways and my room. Just outside my room on the top floor in the back was a maid's closet, and the constant opening and closing immediately next to my door was disturbing. Otherwise, the room was comfortable with lots of light.

One morning the water was barely warm enough to take a shower, and the the towels were frayed and worn. People with hip or knee issues should also take note that it's a steep 12 stairs up from the street to the lobby, which can be a challenge for even able-bodied people carrying their luggage.

The staff were friendly enough, and there is a nice-enough breakfast provided in the lower level restaurant in the mornings. I did not have time to try out the spa services, but I heard others speaking positively about the spa.

Room Tip: Ask for a room in the back. Street noise on the front of the building is loud and goes well into th...

Central location, room clean but very small (room no. 406), average service.

Room Tip: Try not receive room 406, is very small. I don't know how are the other rooms.

This is a very nice, modern, clean hotel. Centrally located. The rooms are small but they have everything. The bathroom, which is the best way to judge a hotel, was sparkling clean and all the fixtures worked perfectly. We were there in chilly weather and the room was well heated. We even had to turn down the heat. We had a good dinner at the hotel's dining room.

Check in took a good 45 mins because our guide didn't drop off our hotel voucher. We asked front staff office to call our local guide and her company a couple of times. All calls went unanswered. Front office finally called hotel manager and they let us checked in and voucher and whats not can be sorted out next day with travel agent tomorrow, thank goodness. We were served an invoice of USD1 for these phonecalls they made on our behalf which we were very thankful for but USD1 invoice seems a bit redundant?

Room: our room had nice view of the lake and Plaza de Armas. Room was on the smaller side but clean. Nice toileteries and towels with hotel's inscription in golden thread. Inside wardrobe was patchy with lots of wires but as long as the door was closed we didn't mind.

Food: breakfast had a nice spread with in-house baked cakes and bread and hot chocolate!
Didn't try the restaurant for dinner.

Service: friendly and helpful.

Location: right smack at the centre of Plaza de Armas. It doesn't get any better than this. We walked everywhere to shops, Alberto's, malls, everything was so close.

Verdict: nice hotel. Looked like an office block from front but room is clean, service is good location is great. Will stay here again.

We spent only a few days in Bariloche, from the first night in Kenton Palace we loved the hospitality and good care of everyone. We really felt as we were at home!
Our room was a Suite, gorgeous views, contemporary decor and really comfortable. I would recommend this Suite and of course the Hotel.

We Stayed at the Kenton Palace for a 2 night vist to Bariloche. Hotel is nice, as well as the Staff, but it has 3 Mayor issues on its service. 1 lack of AC in rooms eclipses everything good on the rooms. the "lake view" (which is just barelly a lake view) receives sun all afternoon so rooms get pretty hot during the evening.
2.- the Hotel is Clearly Understaffed, agent at the Front desk looses a lot of time answering phones from the rooms, and 1 bellstaff per shift is not enough, also the fact that the parking is not on site (so they need to walk you over) makes it harder on guests and staff alike.
3.- Internet in plubic areas was supposed to be free but when I inquire at FD the said you had to buy a "code" to use it. at a 15 us charge.

This hotel was a disappointment to say the least. So much so that we checked out 2 days early and didn't care about not getting a refund!! The service here was non-existant, especially in the bar. What was in the bar was a TV playing childrens' shows because there is a kids play room adjacent to the bar - and little kids in the bar. If you're looking for family friendly this may be the place for you, but that't not what is advertised. The best thing about the hotel is it's central location and views of the lake.
