“Tiny, but a few interesting things”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 22, 2013

My husband and I stopped in here while wandering through the main drag of San Carlos de Bariloche. It was only a few pesos to get in, and we enjoy museums, so we figured we'd check it out. It's very small, but has some interesting artifacts and photographs. The taxidermy animals on the first floor gave us a laugh because of their badly done faces (when you grow up with the Natural History Museum in New York, your taxidermy standards are high), but it was enjoyable as a quick stop in. It's a small local museum, and I'm glad we were able to support it.

“Good flora and fauna exhibition”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 13, 2013

The best part of this museum is an exhibition on the flora and fauna of Patagonia, where they have on display a collection of taxidermed animals (don't worry - from the 1970s) and easy to understand information boards about the various types of landscape in Patagonia. However, most of the rest of the museum is a display of artefacts from the indigenous cultures, so you'll need to decide for yourself whether this is worth seeing depending on other museums you've been to. We had seen very similar stuff in southern Chile, but if we hadn't we would have found it more original and interesting. Finally, by European standards, at 20 pesos it's worth it for the flora and fauna room alone.

“A must to see when in Bariloche”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 23, 2013

Small museum but a lot of history from the region and also a separate exhibition about the nature of today.
Note that the museum is closed Sundays and Mondays.

“More informative than I thought it would be”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 12, 2013

I enjoyed this museum and was surprised by the size and expansiveness once I was in the building. It's a nice place to stop in and get an appreciation for the history of the area and a flavor of the local people.
