My husband and I decided to go to Cerro Otto on our last day in Bariloche, because it was a short trip and we had an afternoon bus to catch to Mendoza. It's a quick drive from San Carlos de Bariloche, and you hop on a gondola for a ride up the mountain. The gondola does get hot in the sun, and you have to hold the window open or it pops shut, which was annoying. The windows are kind of scratched, so you won't get very good photos from there either. However, the top of the mountain has a great view of the lake and towns below. For those who are unable to hike, this is a good, easy way to get a great view. For those who do like to hike, like me, you can actually get up the mountain by a trail, but I'm not sure where it is. You'd have to ask a local. Once you're at the top, there is a relatively short hike down then up the neighboring hill. There are fewer people there, and it's been left natural, as opposed to where the gondolas come in. At first I though the rotating restaurant would be kind of corny, but it was actually very cool! We had to have lunch somewhere, so we decided to stay. The food was very simple but surprisingly good. I had the grilled trout and potatoes, which tasted fresh. It was the perfect way to spend the morning.
