“Don't stay here...”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed October 2, 2007

We stay 3 nights in Bariloche; we stand only 2 in this hotel.
To begin with, a lot of guests were arriving at the time we arrived, the receptionist was so stressed that she never put full attention to our requests. When she gave us the keys to our room, she just said, "The TV remote for that room is not working", and walk away, without even hear our reply, the surprise was that it wasn’t just the control remote not working, the TV was not working either. We called the front desk twice until they send someone just to verify that the TV really wasn't working. They said they'll be back to fix it (it was already 10 pm), we stayed up and dressed waiting for 2 hours, of course, nobody came.
The next day @ night I asked about the TV, they said the TV remote was there, waiting for us to pick it up… what kind of service is that???

In general, the room was filthy, it smelled like insecticidal, there was no floor carpet in the bathroom, and I even killed a little roach in the bathroom. The survey @ the hotel room was also filthy (as if somebody cleaned their hands with it). One of the light bulbs near to the bed was broken. The elevators never stopped @ the 4th floor when we wanted to go downstairs. And the view…. the view from the window was directly to another window about 4 ft from the same hotel.
They say the hotel is 4 stars, or 3 stars... At the beginning I thought it may be a 2 star hotel, but now I won’t give even 1.
The third night we moved to the Nahuel Huapi hotel… not a 4 star... but far much better than this one!

2 of 5 stars Reviewed December 26, 2005

We stayed here for 4 nights in early December. The hotel is centrally located in the centre of town, close to the lake and the civic centre with lots of restaurants and shops close by. However, the rooms are tiny, I felt claustrophobic in there. The bathroom is also tiny, and the rubber mat provided wasn't very useful in the shower, there were a few close calls breaking necks while showering!

The hotel is listed as having A/C but you do not have personal control of the temperature in your room. We thought our room was too warm but management did not change the setting because no one else was complaining, so we left the window open only to be greeted by swarming flies when we returned later that day!

Breakfast is not bad, a buffet of breads, with ham, cheese, eggs, cereal, and fruit salad.

I don't think the Sunset is worth the money we paid to stay there (~AUS$110/night), especially in comparison with other places we stayed at in Argentina (but it sounds like the same may be said for a lot of hotels in Bariloche).
