“LLao Llao - wonderful hotel in an amazing location”

My husband and I stayed at Llao Llao for 3 nights during our honeymoon. Bariloche is a beautiful place and we can't imagine a better place to enjoy it than Llao Llao.

The hotel itself is quite a site - although it is a very large property, it never felt overwhelming - more like being in a cozy lodge. It is very well decorated, with many pieces of Argentinian art hanging off log walls, and fresh flowers from their property on many of the tables in the main areas. Llao Llao has multiple eating areas, 2 pools (one indoor, one outdoor and both heated). Even in March with an air temp in the high 60s and low 70s the outdoor pool was well utilized. The hotel offers many activities for no additional cost during the day for guests - we enjoyed a photography tour of the hotel, golf lessons, and rapelling during our stay.

The various eating areas in the hotel and were well priced with very good to excellent food. The continental breakfast in the morning was probably the most impressive breakfast we've ever enjoyed in a hotel. The dining area had windows on three walls with the majority of the seating overlooking the lakes and mountains. There was always a fire going in the great room and no shortage of comfortable seating to enjoy afternoon tea or a pre-dinner drink on.

We did enjoy some of the spa offerings and found the service there excellent. We had no problems making an appointment upon our arrival for the next day.

We arrived out our room and found champagne and fresh fruit waiting for us. It was well appointed, and the decor is more old-world antique than cutting edge modern. The bathroom was a bit on the small side when compared with other 5 star hotels, but more than adequate for our needs.

The only small negative to the hotel was the lack of air-conditioning in the room. However, the window in the bedroom and bathroom provided more than enough cool air during the evenings.

The natural beauty of the area surronding the hotel is just incredible and we spent most of our time enoying boat rides around the lake and wandering around forests. We did journey into the town of San Carlos de Bariloche for an afternoon of shopping and dinner. As Llao Llao is about 30 minutes outside the town, the hotel offers a bus service to and from. They are also more than happy to arrange cab service for you if that is your preference and have a car rental service at the hotel.

The housekeeping and concierge services were second to none. No complaints there.

We would absolutely recommend this hotel to anyone and we would look forward to staying there again on a return trip.

“Best hotel experience ever!”

Llao Llao Hotel and Resort, Golf-Spa

We stayed in the Llao Llao for 5 nights as part of our honeymoon in Argentina. It was, without doubt, the highlight of our trip, and one of the most romantic hotels we could have chosen. I could have stayed there happily for two whole weeks and I hope some time in the future we might get a chance to revisit.

We were just overwhelmed on our arrival at the hotel - the sheer beauty of its location and the warm welcome we received was amazing. A few hours after we had checked in and settled down, a bottle of champagne and some delicious desserts were sent up to us as a honeymoon treat.

Our room was a Lake Studio and was light and spacious with plenty of wardrobes and other storage. The decor was delightful and we had a fabulous view of the lake - such a pleasure to open the curtains in the morning!

The interior of the hotel is beautiful. Argentinian art hangs off all the log walls and the furnishings are plush and luxurious. Sitting with a glass of wine on a huge sofa beside a roaring log fire in the bar - does life get any better?!

The facilities are great as well, the pool is a wonder - you feel you are swimming with the Andes surrounding you, such is the way the views have been allowed to dictate the design of the building. We took tango lesssons which was great fun and embarked on a walking tour which was very informative.

As for food, the breakfasts were fabulous and set you up for the day ahead. The afternoon tea in the Winter Garden with its table groaning from the weight of all the delicious cakes and pastries was an experience in itself . There were two restaurants, casual and formal and both served delicious food and wine. We ate like kings for our entire trip.

As for excursions etc, we took a very good boat trip around the Lake and over to islands within the Lake. We also did quite a lot of walking and exploring in the forests and hills surrounding the hotel and saw some jaw dropping scenery.

As for service, I can't praise it enough. Concierge staff were excellent as were all waiting and housekeeping staff. In a nutshell, I don't have a single complaint about the Llao Llao!

“Great hotel in a great location”

Llao Llao Hotel and Resort, Golf-Spa

We had spent 2 weeks in Argentina this past December, of which 3 nights were at the Llao Llao Resort. We were amazed at the sheer beauty of the resort and its location. It's nestled between mountains, facing lakes and valleys. Out of all the hotels we stayed in Argentina, this was definately the most memorable in terms of sheer location. At first, we were a bit startled at the $250-plus price of the rooms per night. But, in retrospect, considering the size, beauty, and location, it may be justified.

The service was quite commendable as well. We originally booked the cheapest two twin beds, but seeing that we were on a romantic getaway, the staff upgraded up to a king size bed (on the second night).

Given that, the only negatives are probably the overpriced restaurant. The formal restaurant has basically the same food as the casual, but it's priced much more (and hence, there's an air of attitude in there as well). I'd recommend eating at the casual, or better, if you have a rental car, go the village of Bariloche.

“We can't understand what people are complaining about!”

Llao Llao Hotel and Resort, Golf-Spa

Having read some of the recent commentry about this hotel, we were quite depressed at the thought of staying there. Having just spent 3 of the most wonderful days here, we really can't understand what the reviewers are complaining about. Absolutely everything was excellent. The check in staff were charming and friendly without being stuffy. The room, whilst it was compact was lovely, with terrific views from the rather small windows. Housekeeping were helpful and friendly. The public areas of the hotel were stunning. Wonderful places to enjoy drinks or relax. The pool was excellent. Big enough for a swim (both the indoor and outdoor). Loungers and pool service were good. And we enjoyed a perfectly professional massage in the spa too. Too our surprise, the hotel did not take advantage of its remote location to overcharge for extras too. The car service was cheaper than local taxis and drinks etc were reasonably priced. The restaurants were fine if rather predicable, whilst the breakfast was the best we have had in Argentina. So, please make up your own mind, and don't be put off!!

Our room was great - very spacious, beautiful view of the water, & we had our private terrace which was lovely to sit on and relax with our lake vista. The hotel is a stunning property - a luxury lodge & the service was impeccable. The beds were comfortable. However, there are a LOT of kids running around (mostly American ones) & yelling (I have no idea where their parents' were). They have a great kids club & Patagonia is perfect for families, but it makes the pool scene a hectic one. We lucked out on our last day because the hotel was half empty so we were able to enjoy the peaceful surroundings and beautiful hotel without the crowds. The hotel grounds are stunning, and they have bikes you can borrow to ride around, little canoes you can use, etc. There are also great excursions near the hotel (whitewater rafting & horseback riding are a must).

The food was top notch (& we're from New York so used to the best restaurants) - Caeser's is good but the terrace restaurant above was just as good. The breakfast buffet is nice, but again there are a lot of kids running around.

I fear the hotel will lose some of it's charm when the addition is complete. The hotel already feels a little overcrowded (& we were there in March, which is the off season). I think this is a perfect spot for families, but not for a couple looking for a peaceful retreat (for that I recommend Villa la Angostura).
