My husband and I stayed at Llao Llao for 3 nights during our honeymoon. Bariloche is a beautiful place and we can't imagine a better place to enjoy it than Llao Llao.
The hotel itself is quite a site - although it is a very large property, it never felt overwhelming - more like being in a cozy lodge. It is very well decorated, with many pieces of Argentinian art hanging off log walls, and fresh flowers from their property on many of the tables in the main areas. Llao Llao has multiple eating areas, 2 pools (one indoor, one outdoor and both heated). Even in March with an air temp in the high 60s and low 70s the outdoor pool was well utilized. The hotel offers many activities for no additional cost during the day for guests - we enjoyed a photography tour of the hotel, golf lessons, and rapelling during our stay.
The various eating areas in the hotel and were well priced with very good to excellent food. The continental breakfast in the morning was probably the most impressive breakfast we've ever enjoyed in a hotel. The dining area had windows on three walls with the majority of the seating overlooking the lakes and mountains. There was always a fire going in the great room and no shortage of comfortable seating to enjoy afternoon tea or a pre-dinner drink on.
We did enjoy some of the spa offerings and found the service there excellent. We had no problems making an appointment upon our arrival for the next day.
We arrived out our room and found champagne and fresh fruit waiting for us. It was well appointed, and the decor is more old-world antique than cutting edge modern. The bathroom was a bit on the small side when compared with other 5 star hotels, but more than adequate for our needs.
The only small negative to the hotel was the lack of air-conditioning in the room. However, the window in the bedroom and bathroom provided more than enough cool air during the evenings.
The natural beauty of the area surronding the hotel is just incredible and we spent most of our time enoying boat rides around the lake and wandering around forests. We did journey into the town of San Carlos de Bariloche for an afternoon of shopping and dinner. As Llao Llao is about 30 minutes outside the town, the hotel offers a bus service to and from. They are also more than happy to arrange cab service for you if that is your preference and have a car rental service at the hotel.
The housekeeping and concierge services were second to none. No complaints there.
We would absolutely recommend this hotel to anyone and we would look forward to staying there again on a return trip.
