We decided to go with a company because we thought that it provide us with plenty of stops and good historical information and background information. The bus only stopped three times. Once at Cerro Campanario where we made an hour long stop (the price for the ticket to go up was not included but it is HIGHLY recommended, the second stop was to take some pictures of the lake and the third stop was to take pictures of the hotel lao lao followed by a sales presentation at a tea shop. The guide provided us with some information - lao lao is the name of a mushroom in mapuche and means sweet sweet. Do yourself a favor and rent a car (cost for 2 people will be about the same). We paid $90 (Argentinian) for the tour and it was entirely in Spanish, English speaking tours are much more expensive and not very common (so we were told)
