“Awesome views but dingy room”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 22, 2009

This hostel is firstly really hard to book, we had to ring when we arrived in Argentina as they dont take bookings by email. I cant say it was really worth the effort! Yes, it has amazing views, they really are incredible. However, the rooms are not the best. We stayed in a double room which was quite dingy - the carpet was pretty threadbare and stained and the walls would really benefit from a lick of paint. What seemed strange was there was a padlock on the wardrobe - dont know why but I never saw that before. The bathrooms were fine, not as clean as I hoped though. The staff are okay, friendly enough. Ive stayed in a lot of hostels and this wasnt the best. If you want an incredible view or to meet other backpackers then I would recommend this hostel but it could really benefit from some upgrading. It has so much potential.

This is one of the best hostels i have ever stayed in. people say that a lot but this palce was great. for teh followign reasons:

1. the staff were great, helpful, organised wine nights and other fun in the hostel
2. The view is incredible, you could not get any better view in a 5 star hotel
3. best kitchen ever. It has a huge kitchen the size of 2 commercial kitchens and is fuly stocked
4. The people it attracts are all really relaxed and cool, not the dickheads you sometimes get who get totally drunk everynight and make a mess and keep everyone awake.
5. The view from one of the toilets is teh best toilet view ever.
6. Clean, it was so clean
7. best sunsets from the balcony 10 floors above the lake
8. right next to the bus stop that takes you to all the places to see in bariloche

i was meant to stay there for 3 days ended up staying a week like most people and could have stayed there even longer.

They don't accept email bookings so make the effort and call them you won't regret it!

amazing views of the town and the surrounding landscape, nice communal areas and slightly better breakfast than many hostels in argentina. 5 mins or less to walk to the centre of bariloche. rooms comfortable though not as nice as some other places i stayed in, same goes for the bathrooms.

Fantastic hostel. Great great staff and fantastic athmosphere. No crazy parties. Just chilled travellers, chilled environment, very very clean kitchen and space. Well worth reserving a room.

  • Liked — staff, views, athmosphere
  • Disliked — it was full so we had to move out NYE

I tried staying at this hostel during peak season, and tried booking well in advance by email. I got nothing but the runaround from the person working there. She kept deferring my emails, telling me to email back later, then asking question after question, and being very difficult. I started to wonder if they don't take booking by email during peak season. A friend recommended the place to me, but after having so much trouble with the booking system, I finally just gave up and decided to stay in one of the many other hostels in Bariloche. I would avoid a business that is so difficult to deal with.

The Penthouse hostel is literally a hostel within a penthouse! It´s location on the 10th floor gives it great panoramic views from the main shared areas as well as some rooms (dorms and privates).

There is a great vibe to this hostel and it´s decorated really well. The hostel is immaculately clean and this includes shared areas such as the kitchen, dining room, etc. Breakfast is included within the price and includes cereal as well! (not many hostels in Argentina include it). No HI or ISIC discounts available. Internet is free but there´s only one machine which is inevitably occupied.

We were advised to call and book instead of reserving by email. The guys who run the hostel can advise on excursions, etc.
