“unforgettable stay...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 7, 2014

been for the first time at this wonderful hotel by the lake nahuel huapi. rooms are wondeful, staff is unbelievely caring and proffesional... owners alex and andrea are always there for you...
indoor/outdoor pool, hamman, spa are just what´s needed. views from everywhere are breathtaking. you can go fly fishing just a few steps from the hotel... day trips walking, biking or sailing... it´s got everything... peace and quiet... very difficult to give an idea of how wonderful this hotel is in so few words... restaurantes anf food are not of this world.... lamb, fish,etc... owner alex organised four day of regattas and closed the hotel for us... we are still enjoying it... superb... i´m sure that at least once in your lifetime you should come here... and then you´ll retun often... ha that good it is...

Room Tip: most of the rooms have lakeside view... choose one of them... any of them...

Were were in 4 people (2 rooms), both with lake fantastic view, ours in the new building, bigger, with a great balcony.
All the staff were friendly, helpfull giving also good suggestions around the area.
We took also a walk "bosque" wich was fantastic.
From the hotel to the village (charming) is a 5 km walk, pleasant as well.
Swiiming pool was great, except one day which was really too hot!
Negative point is the gym - really poor and beside children are: not acceptable for a 5 stars hotel.
Vila L'Angostuar its unique and should be preserved.
Much better than Bariloche.

Room Tip: Rooms with lake view in the new building with balcony.

We stayed here, shortly after that chap posted the disaster review, and I have to say, we thought it was great.

The service manager Juan, is so welcoming and the front desk where great at helping us plan things and make restaurant reservations etc.

The views from the room are enchanting and the outside heated pool was a great experience.

The rooms do not have air con, so be mindful of the time of year you chose to travel.

All in all, a good solid hotel.

1 of 5 stars Reviewed February 19, 2014

Well, I named our experience DISASTER , because it was the most horrible experience with a hotel we (my girlfriend and me) had for years !!!
The pick-up service was the FIRST DISASTER. No one was in "San Martin de los Andes" to pick us up. So we went to the "Rio Barriloche-Office" try to calling the hotel why no one was waiting for us. My girlfriend went meanwhile to the taxis, asking what a ride to the hotel would cost as a guy came to us, asking for a "Mr. Schmitt" and holding a piece of ugly brown paper in his hands with something written no one could read. I told him, here is no "Mr. Schmitt" and good bye sir !!!
The hotel told us, that this would be the guy who should pick us up. We were afraid, because everyone can hold a piece of brown paper in his hands with some kind of hieroglyphics that no one is able to read. Well, we drove with this guy, because the hotel threatened us, that we have to pay, if we wouldn't drive with him. The road to the hotel was broken for at least an half hour, they work on the road to modernize it, no one talked to us about that. That was the SECOND
DISASTER !!!
As we arrived in the hotel and checked in, the room we booked, had no towels, so we couldn't take a shower. It took at least twenty minutes for the hotel-staff to organize us some fresh towel. That as the THIRD DISASTER !!!
My girlfriend recognized that they had no Flat-Screen-TV in the room (in a $500 superior-room). So I went to the reception and told them that we want to change the room, or the staff of the hotel should organize for us a Flat-Screen-TV in the superior-room we booked. That was the FOURTH DISASTER !!!
Well, the hotel-staff organized us a Flat-Screen-TV for the room we booked after I was getting a little bit louder, but the seize was as little as it could be and the brand of the TV was NOBLIA or NOBLEX or something like that, ridiculous. I figured out that they have the most expensive Bose-Speakers in the hotel-lobby, but for their guest who spent $500 for a superior-room the night, they offer such a piece of garbage TV, its a real shame. I talked about this experience with the manager and he felt ashamed too. But he kicked the guy who picked us up out of his job on the same day. Well, I made the decision not to count all the DISASTER'S anymore, because my girlfriend and I figured out it would be better for our nerves !!!
I have to say, that the manager tried to do his best, but the staff don't care, they lie straight in you face. The reason for this is, they have just a contract for three month and than they have to leave, so they have no motivation, no interest, we figured this out as well,.....with other words, they give a damn !!!
We met a guy from "Chile" who had some problems with the internet, they have no high-speed-internet. I was already to tired to complain about it and said nothing about the slow-speed-internet !!!
There was a large group of people from "London", they asked in the morning, at breakfast-time were the tea is ???,....well, there was no tea, it was unbelievable. I never saw something like that in my lifetime. A hotel who is a member of the SMALL LUXURY HOTELS OF THE WORLD
and such a service. As I said,.....A DISASTER !!!
My girlfriend took a shower and wanted to dry her hair, well, of course the hair-dresser was not working. So I went to the reception tried to get a hair-dresser. The answer was:

"We will organize you a hair-dresser in 15 minutes"

I said that my girlfriend is standing in the bath-room with her wet hair and she needs the hair-dresser NOW, immediately, and you better organize me a hair-dresser immediately or I will write a comment on tripadvisor about what's goin' on here. Well, they organized me the
hair-dresser immediately !!!
The windows of the room we couldn't open, there was no airconditioning, so it was very hot in the room. I talked about this issue with the manager. He promised to fix it, but no one fixed it in the six days we stayed in "Correntoso Lake & River" !!!
The pool is great (heated) and the relaxing aera too,.....they offer apples and lemon-lemonade for free,.....but you need to relax anyway if you book in this hotel, that's for sure !!!
The breakfast was okay,.....but as I said, no tea and no cornflakes of any kind. The marmelade and the ham are very good, the croissants and the fruit-saled too. That's the only good thing I can say. The restaurant you can't use, because they offer no salad of any kind, no chicken, no hamburgers, nothing. Just vegetables, mushrooms and rice on every meal. its ridiculous. My girlfriend asked the staff of the restaurant if they have no salad, no chicken, no burgers and the answer was a simple NO. That's all they had to say. WHAT A DISASTER !!!
The "Mojitos" of the hotel are very good,.....so congrats to that, at least it made our evening at this "DISASTER-PLACE" !!!
By the way, don't go to the restaurants "La Tinto" & "Chop Chop" in the city "Villa Langustura" the hotel are recommending for you, because,.....they are all their buddies and they are really as horrible as the hotel itself. I promise, I will write a seperate tripadvisor-review about this experience at the restaurant !!!
If you go to the city "Villa Langusturo" (very beautiful little town), then go to the restaurant "Loncomilla" if you want to eat for a good price and very well. go to the coffee and tea-place "Alma Mora", they offer real black, green, white tea, but not this cheap packages from the supermarket. They have Belgium Nougat, Almond, Whiskey, Toffee, Chocolate-Mint tea, its really great. Take also a two hour trip to "Bariloche" and have a afternoon tea-time in the famous hotel "Llao-Llao",.....unbelievable, for 250 pesos you can eat the best made cakes of the world and drink the best flavored teas you can imagine. I really arrived as destroyed man (because of my experience at Hotel Correntoso) at the hotel "Llao-Llao", but the staff of the hotel "Llao-Llao" made in ten minutes a happy man from me again. THANKS !!!
Well,.....enough said about the hotel "Correntoso Lake & River", never again in my life, also if someone pay the stay at the hotel and the superior room for me !!!
Aaahhh,.....also the pick-up back to the city "San Martin de los Andes" was A DISASTER. We thought we had the pick up already organized, because the manager told us he would take care about this issue personally. So I asked the staff on the reception if the pick-up-service will be on time and they said yes. We were waiting in the lobby and we met the manager. He asked us what we are doing and I said we are waiting for the pick-up-service. Well, but the pick-up-service was not on time, they came a half hour later. On the ride to "San Martin de los Andes" the driver of the pick-up-service told us, that the manager called nervously an half hour before we had to leave the hotel the pick-up-service, and said following words:

"Please, please, a pick-up-service as fast it is possible"

And why ???,.....The staff of the hotel forgot to call and organize a pick-up service for us !!!

I can not recommend this hotel for no one, because it is A DISASTER. Please, its better you go
to "Bahia Manzano", rent you a hosteria for $120 the night. The rooms are big and gorgeous, oversized Flat-Screen-TV's, oversized Jacuzzis. King-Size-Bed, little kitchen, balcony with view on the lake. Even a heated inside pool, an heated outside pool with Spa and a Gym are waiting for you. "Casa Del Bosque Apart, Suites & Spa" is such a place. An they also accept your debit-card without any problems or a bank-transfer from your us-account to their account. THAT'S NOT A DISASTER !!!

I hope my review was helpfull and you are able to enjoy your vacation in the way you want to enjoy it. Thank you !!!

E.K.

Room Tip: Sorry, I can't recommend this hotel

It is a very stilish hotel, located in a beautiful spot near Villa la Angostura, Argentinian Patagonia. It has wonderful views and many cosy places to just sit and relax. I highly recommend a visit to the indoor/outdoor pool. However, the Restaurant is rather expensive and the food is not top one (when compares with other restaurants with in the región). This is something that should be improved.

The hotel has a beautiful setting overlooking the lakes and Rio Correntoso. The indoor/outdoor pool is fantastic. The breakfast is good. We booked our room through the Small Luxury Hotels of the World and were supposed to get a free upgrade, if available, as well as late checkout, if available. Our room was not ready when we arrived early so we stored our bags in the secure storage area, which was fine. We returned late afternoon and our bags had been brought to our superior room. The room had a beautiful view, but it was very small. When you are traveling for 2 weeks and you have two big suitcases, it is hard to move around in such a small room. There is no space for toiletries in the bathroom. However, the biggest problem was the heat. There is no ventilation. The windows open only slightly at the top. We asked for a fan which was delivered. However, we then had even less room to walk to the bathroom. Since we were staying 3 nights, I went down to reception and asked if they had checked to see if we could be upgraded to another room free of charge. The receptionist consulted with the manager and realized that we were entitled to an upgrade under our booking as a room was available. We were moved to a junior suite which was lovely and had more room, but the ventilation in the room was worse than the smaller room. We moved the fan with us but it was still very hot. Luckily, the outside temperature fell significantly the second day of our stay. When we asked about late checkout, we were told 12:30PM was the latest we could check out. I had e-mailed the staff about information before our stay and they were very helpful. However, during our stay, most of the staff was not very helpful. It would make a huge difference if the hotel installed different windows or ceiling fans of some sort or air conditioning. I realize that it does not get hot often, but the ventilation in the rooms is really a problem. The staff should also be aware of the benefits being offered by the Small Hotels of the World if the hotel remains a member.

Correntoso Lake & River Hotel, as the name indicates, is hidden located by the Correntoso River and Correntoso Lake confluence in Argentinian Patagonia. The hotel itself is beautiful, quiet, cozy and charming, and the views are astonishing. We didn't stayed there, as we were going to San Martin de Los Andes, but we had an excellent afternoon tea and champagne admiring the stunning deep-blue lake and the snowy mountains. Staff is really attentive. We are looking forward to coming back to spend 2 or 3 nights there.
