Very nice hotel, located a little bit outside of the city centre (1USD taxi ride :-) ) in the posh quarter of Salta. Friendly staff, new & nice rooms, great views. Stayed there twice so far, will be there soon again.

We stayed at Salta Sherton on Starwood points, so I can't comment on price/value.
It is a new Sheraton, with rooms much like standard sheraton in USA. Staff was very friendly and spoke good English.
Has small health club, pool, jacuzzi, restaurant, bar.
Short downhill walk to town and walk or $1 cab ride back up hill.
I thought it was clean, nice, and staff was very friendly and helpful.

The Sheraton Salta is a five-star South American property. It is new, has a great view of the city and all the amenties you'd expect from a Sheraton.

The staff speaks enough English that it is a safe bet for non-Spanish speaking.

It is, hoewever, extremely expensive for Argentina. I suspect that it must have a two-tiered pricing structure. One for those paying in Pesos and another for those paying in dollars.

For the $200 per night we paid at the Sheraton, you could probably rent your own personal palace if you knew how.
