“A wonderful place to stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 18, 2012

We spent a total of 4 nights at Finca Valentina in March 2012 and we would highly recommend a stay here. The Finca is extremely comfortable, with lovely views and the food is excellent - an interesting fusion of Italian and Argentinian styles. The Finca is set in its own grounds and it is possible to do short walks along the local tracks (with excellent bird-watching opportunities). Valentina and her staff are extremely friendly and helpful and local/regional tours can be arranged through Socompa (a company run by Fabrizio, Valentina's husband). We had an interesting and informative city tour and a wonderful 3 day tour of the Cachi/El Cafayate area west and south of Salta, impeccably organised by Socompa. We also had a great day birdwatching at the local Huaipo reserve and surrounding area with a guide from Clark Expediciones

We would not hesitate to recommend a stay at Finca Valentina.

My only regret in staying at Finca Valentina is that I was only there for one night. The Finca is outside Salta, an easy and quick drive from the airport. It is spacious, and very homely with an excellent swimming pool. The room was very clean and comfortable with high quality fittings and everything was designed to be truly comfortable. The food was very good and both the owners and staff were most helpful. The massage was also particularly good and one to recommend.

If you're looking for a more authentic, homely place to stay, complete with friendly dogs, this definitely beats any hotel!

We stayed at Finca Valentina for 4 nights on our trip around Argentina. It was truly wonderful. We hadn't organised any tours when we arrived and Fabrizio was so helpful in organising everything for us so we had a good trip in the area. The actual Finca is beautiful and so lovely to return to at the end of the day. The food was brilliant. Breakfasts were simple and tasty and then evening meals meant we never left the Finca. They were too good! Rooms were simply and stylishly decorated. Thank you to both Fabrizio and Valentina for making our stay in Salta so special.

Excellent hotel with very helpful owners, beautifully decorated, fantastic food ! Good place for bird spotting. As soon as we arrived, went for a short jog and the owners' 4 dogs joined us so it was a great loud fun run.
Difficult to connect to the internet.
Location is very convenient for access to/from the airport and the main roads South, North and West. Possibly not so convenient to visit Salta itself.

I really wish we had had a few more days in this stunning, deceptively 'simple' country house. Our problem had been the distance from town, not so far in real terms perhaps, one can call it a suburb of the city, but since we are a couple that is constantly chasing time we were afraid we'd lose too much time commuting,(though Fabrizio was kind enough to offer us a lift into town if he happened to be going in). And from the airport we were just 5 minutes, so it was eminently convenient for departure. The location was otherwise superb, close to the main road, yet off it, so we felt we were resting in the lap of nature, while really quite close to everything.

As it happened it was only after we stopped by on the last and single night of our trip that we realized what we had missed. The character of the accommodation one chooses becomes an integral part of the total journey, and Finca Valentina somehow combined in its architecture, design, decor, and total ambiance, a sense of authenticity and 'rootedness', with pure and restful elegance.

The guesthouse is situated a short distance away from the main house. Nevertheless the hosts were sincerely kind and attentive, with what one felt was a real interest in their guests and a warm and helpful word for everyone, particularly during mealtimes, and otherwise never intruding but always there when required. The rest of the time each of the guests seemed to be quietly doing their own thing at their own pace, but with a sense of connectedness with others. So in the end there was this gentle unobtrusive friendliness in the air, each guest having his/her own privacy and yet connected with other guests and Fabrizio and Valentina coordinating the whole in the same spirit.

Valentina seemed to be perpetually active behind the scenes presiding over a beautiful table, both at breakfast and dinner, which were both superb, visually as well as gastronomically. Judging by the turnout at the separately set dinner tables, most of the guests prefer to have dinner in the casa even if they are out during the day. The atmosphere invites that, as does the food, though we had only a single dinner there. The staff are crisp, decorous, smiling, unobtrusive, yet always alert.

And finally the decor is so quietly elegant, that it rests the soul!! The warm lighting, the authenticity and placement of artifacts, the creation of mood while preserving the true nature of the region with the use of indigenous materials, the sophisticated simplicity of the whole creates great pleasure. Each piece of furniture - there is nothing superfluous - is designed and placed with thought. I completely loved it. And we woke to the gurgling of - doves?? Unfortunately Finca Valentina is not for a one night stand!!

Notwithstanding its presumed distance from town, this is a 'hotel' one would recommend without reservation, particularly if one is spending a few days in Salta. We did an incredible journey into the puna with Fabrizio - really a once in a lifetime experience, and at the end of a strenuous journey, it was delicious to fall into the arms of Finca Valentina.

When I arrived at finca valentina I immediately fell in love with the place!
I loved the white floors, the white walls, the white bathroom and the airy-white bed, combined with antique wooden furniture. It is a very tasteful combination of old and new, of Italy and Argentina - very personal and elegant!
The garden with the Andes on the horizon is the perfect place to relax and also for bird watching! It is so much fun to see all the different types from so close… The local staff is very kind, helpful and professional. We were staying at the suite, which has a private terrace. Enjoying a glass of great Argentinean wine while watching the sun setting behind the Andes is an unforgettable experience. I hope to be back one day… Also to meet the nice hosts again who became friends. Thank you Valentina and Fabrizio!
