“Nice place but FREEZING COLD!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 28, 2012 via mobile

We wanted to stay four nights at La Posadita but left after the first night because it was too cold. The room was the same temperature as the outside, even though they had a small wall heater (which put out virtually no heat). It had to be 35 to 40 degrees Farenhiet in our room. We found a lovely place near the town center that had the following amenities that La Posadita did not have:
1. Heat that actually heated the room to a comfortable temperature
2. Satellite TV
3. Refrigerator
4. Microwave
5. In room tea service
6. Plates, glasses, coffee mugs, silverware (so you could self-cater)
7. Hair dryer
8. Dining table in the room

What's the name of this place? Alas del Alma. And their administration staff speaks a little English, whereas La Posadita doesn't. And it was only ten pesos more. No brainier!

I'm sure if you go to La Posadita in warmer weather, you will find it lovely.

On the heights of the village, four small but pretty and independant rooms. Take the northest if you can, you'll get the best view.
You will rest in your "chaise longue" outside just before your room, facing the red mountains and enjoying the sunset with a glass of beer or wine you can get from the desk...
If the weather is not that good or a little cold, you'll see the same overview from the inside, lying on your bed, thanks to the huge window of the bedroom.
All is perfectly clean, breakfast is very good, and you can get advices from the owners. Beware, they only speak spanish (but it's almost the same everywhere in the area, and generally in Argentina, so practice some before travelling !).
You're close to the two charming squares of Tilcara (10 minutes walk or two minutes by car).
This city is the best one to stay (better than Purmamarca or other villages in the area) to enjoy the Quebrada de Humahuaca ; don't forget to go to the municipal market in the morning, it's full of colors, smells and pictures to take.
If you are looking for a fine restaurant, go to "El Nuevo Progresso" (the best lamb ever), and for an entertaining place, have a dinner or a drink at night by "La Pena de Carlito".

We stayed here around New Year's for 3 days. It's clean, comfortable and has all the amenities you are looking for in a hotel. It is a little way out of the downtown (2 minute walk) but perfect for enjoying the views and surroundings. We walked out of our private room on New Years eve to lounging chairs with champagne on ice courtesy of the hostel overlooking the valley... What more can I say!!! Every room has a little patio with view and they are all well decorated and clean.
This has been one of the best places we've stayed in 1 month of traveling in Argentina!

The mordern rooms with big windows, good beds and nice bathrooms are well worth the price. The tasty breakfast consists of freshly pressed orange juice, cafe con leche, bread, pastry, marmelade and dulce de leche.

The building fits nicely in the surroundings. Bring some time to enjoy the sunbeds and the view high above Tilcara!

Our room was clean, cosy and well-furnished with a big window with a superb view of the canyon. There is also a small garden where you can relax on a lawn chair. The breakfast is good. The price/quality relationship is excellent.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 24, 2010

Stayed for 3 nights. What a wonderful place to relax. Had a little garden with 2 comfy chairs, amazing views of the mountains and town, a great big comfortable bed where we could lay and look at the view from the big picture window. Very basic breakfast and wish they had a hairdryer but for the very good price have to say it was a perfect place for a peaceful, beautiful get- a -way! We would definetly return if back in this area/
