“The Courtyard is a Very Nice Place to Stay!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 21, 2007

I stayed at the Marriott Courtyard in Mesa, AZ just one night, but it was very pleasant. I called the hotel once I arrived in Phoenix and spoke with Karen at the front desk, asking for an early check-in to get ready for a 4 p.m. wedding in Scottsdale. She was extremely accomodating and, although there were three other weddings taking place this weekend at the Courtyard, she would block off a room for my early arrival. Sure enough, the room was ready by 1:30 p.m., and a refrigerator and microwave oven was on its way in no time at all!

Although small, the room was clean and well-appointed with a comfortable king size bed, large desk, couch, and TV. I was at the end of the hall on the third floor, away from any noise from the elevator or pool, and it suited me just fine. The breakfast in the lobby restaurant was quite satisfactory and reasonably priced.

There are many restaurants and shopping malls in the immediate area for those interested, and Mesa is, of course, close to Scottsdale, the ultimate shopper's dream.

I enjoyed my stay here and would return again should I be in the Mesa area.

The Front Desk staff was excellent, the rooms were great and they had all the right amenities. Couldn't have asked for anything more!

Booked this hotel because of the rates and the reviews written here. While I can't say that this was a bad hotel, nothing about it really made me feel that I could say this is a good hotel either. Rooms were average. They have switched over to the newer beds- very comfortable, all the pillows you could possibly need, and very soft. But the rooms were not in the best condition and seemed a bit older and outdated. I was a little disappointed to see that the courtyards have eliminated their free continental breakfast and now charge for everything. The Courtyard Phoenix Mesa is a nice, basic hotel- nothing special.

  • Liked — The newer, updated bedding- free computer/internet access
  • Disliked — Rooms were smaller, not as nice as I've seen at a Courtyard.

Marriott's website said that this hotel was recently remodeled. It certainly appeared to have been. Apparently, all the Courtyard by Marriott hotels are supposed to get a makeover. Considering the last time I stayed at one of them, it was getting shabby. We booked a suite with a king-sized bed since we were in town visiting family and wanted room to entertain them. The suite cost just $20/night more than a regular room and was well worth the extra money. It had a separate bedroom with a TV plus a sitting area with a sleeper couch, another TV, a small refrigerator, and a microwave oven. The counter tops in the sitting area and the bathroom were granite. This Courtyard hotel had nice balconies with 2 chairs and a small table. Our balcony overlooked the interior courtyard which had a pool and a jacuzzi.

Overall, we were pleased with our stay. The bed was comfortable if a bit on the soft side. Housekeeping was excellent. The breakfast buffet was decent. It had a limited selection--scrambled eggs, bacon, sausages, home fries, make your own waffles, biscuits and gravy and an assortment of fruit and pastries. It cost $9.95. You can get breakfast to order but it costs more. The servers were friendly and efficient. One thing we were pleased to see--free use of the computer! Just last year Courtyard was charging a fee to use the lobby computer. As others mentioned, there is always coffee, hot tea, water, and cookies in the lobby--all for free.

The hotel is in a safe area. Plus parking is free and plentiful. There is a Circle K within easy walking distance. I would recommend going there instead of using the mini market in the hotel because the mini market is more expensive with a limited selection of items.

Our only complaint was that the toilet needed to be flushed twice every time it was used. We were going to call maintenance about it but found out from family who were also staying at the hotel that this is apparently a problem throughout the hotel.

  • Liked — Easy access to Route 60
  • Tips/Secrets — If you like to sit out on the balcony, get a room on the second or third floor

trying to get a value package via the internet, Marriott's package with flight and car was the best, though I had to get an early flight. Checkin was fine, but the clerk looked puzzled, probably because there was no rate on my stay, she tugs the arm of the supervising clerk and she said that it was prepaid. I thought that was a shock because that's mentioned on Priceline stays, I didn't figure on Marriott bookings. Second floor king assigned and I ask if it's quiet. The senior clerk says, "Yes it is, you are staying till Saturday, we get wild on Saturday." Room was fine, looked remodeled with the last ten years, no fridge. I think you can request a fridge at no cost, I saw many stacked up in a supply room when they left the door open. AC worked well. Cookies twice in the afternoon and ice tea and a berry drink plus coffee in the lobby. Internet usage was free for 15 minutes as I printed my boarding pass home. 4 out of 5

I stayed here based on previous reviews and enjoyed staying here. The hotel is very clean and everything was in working order. The parking lot had plenty of spaces. Even though I did not have time to have breakfast in the morning at the lobby, the very efficient and professional front office recommended the local eats. I will return to the hotel!!!

My wife and I recently stayed at the Courtyard Mesa at the beginning of a week long trip, and again at the end of the trip. So we got to stay in two different rooms in two different sections of the hotel. I got a rate of $79 per night on their web site, which is a great rate for that part of the country. And it is cancellable, unlike making reservations at Expedia, Travelocity and other web sites. The rooms were clean, confortable, and nicely decorated. The hotel has an upscale feel, considering the rate. Breakfast was not included at the $79 per night rate. The hotel is near the Fiesta Mall and is close to plenty of good restaurants. The drive to the airport is about 30 minutes. Each time we checked in we were treated very courteously. The alarm clock didn't work in one of the rooms, and they quickly replaced it without any hassle. High speed internet is available and works well. I highly recommend this hotel.
