About a month ago, my wife wanted a change of pace from our normal BBQ spots. So we went back to Waldo's. A nice spot a couple took us too many years ago. We haven't been back since. It's not all that far, but to be honest it didn't leave much of an impression the first time and this was no different.
The meat was nicely cooked, but seasoned more toward the taste buds of the snow birds in the nearby trailer parks. OK! It was bland! The meat was juicy and properly cooked, but the potential for flavor wasn't there. I had the ribs so I could compare them to some I had in Pittsburgh recently. There was little to compare. They were fatty for my taste and not very meaty. My wife had a pulled pork sandwich. It was small with half the meat you'd expect from a quality BBQ joint use to satisfying repeat customers, but a perfect portion for the older crowd. I tried her meat and it was ok, but no better than what you get frozen at a store. They do have a good hot sauce and some great corn bread. The desert were also very good. But if you want a good BBQ memory, this isn't the spot.
