We had not been to this restaurant for five years because the food had been "just average". So we thought that it was time to give it another try. The food was much better. I can recommend the bread, the soup, the lamb chops, and the shrimp. I agree with some other reviewers that the steak was good but not great. I found the service to be classic chain restaurant patronizing roboservice. The drink menu was also made up of classic chain restaurant children's drinks with alcohol added.
My main complaint is about the beer, and I know that I'm speaking only for that minority of restaurant patrons that would like to have a craft beer with their dinner, but restaurants that don't train their servers to know anything about beer drive me to distraction. Any restaurant that wants the business of craft beer consumers must learn to stop insulting them. Without my wife to calm me down I might have already been charged with an offense. Some chain servers don't know that breweries might produce more than one beer. Ours at Outback told us the brand of the Sam Adams seasonal but when I asked him what style it might be, it became clear that he was unaware that there such a thing as beer style. I ordered it anyway out of curiosity, but turned out to be a style that was incompatible with my meal. It was also served in a frosted glass so I had wait for it to warm up to taste it. I'm sufficiently fed up with this boneheadedness (management's, not the employee's) that I won't be back for another five years.
