“The place to take your visitors to who want to experience the desert”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 16, 2012

Great hiking, great ranger programs, and a nice campground. Very close to the city, yet very far. Living next door we always take our visitors here and they always love it.

“Best hiking and ranger-led programs”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 1, 2012

We're so blessed to live close to this park. There are enough trails to provide variety and all levels. Cat peaks is my personal favorite as the back side is the best for spotting wildlife. The interpretive ranger here, Ranger B, is extremely knowlegeable about desert plants and animals. He leads fun and interesting programs frequently. Our whole family enjoys this park and we are annual pass holders.

“Amazing Park and Programs”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 11, 2012

The visitor center is perfect, several native snakes and a desert tortoise on display and occasionally you can watch Ranger B feed the snakes. Check the maricopa county parks site for events as ther are lunch programs that discuss a desert animal or plant. We hiked Pass Mtn Trail, trail is marked well and moderate to difficult, 7.5 miles. There are trails for all levels. Amazing place in the east valley 30 minutes from Phoenix.

“Nice hiking”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 26, 2012

The hiking is nice. Suggest hiking in the winter as the high temperatures can be deadly. I realize that this should be obvious, but the news regularly attests that some do not find it obvious and either require rescue or their bodies recovered. Like the desert mountains? This place is great and for you.

“Nice hikes”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 18, 2012

This is a great place for hiking, biking and walking your dog, but AZ visitors...DONT GO OFF THE PATH, and bring plenty of water. Too many deaths from out of state hikers in the hot summer. STAY ON trails and let someone know you are there. Dogs need booties because the ground is sharp and hot.
