“Passable stay, could be better”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 2, 2008

We arrived in the evening upon arrival in Arizona. My first impression upon check in wasn't good, the lobby/courtyard area looks dated, like 70's dated. It is also in the Embassy Suite style of the room doorways all facing a covered courtyard area. The room was modern, clean, and comfortable and we slept well. The exercise room was adequate with a good selection of machines to use. I was more impressed with the quiet in our room upon exiting into the common area in the morning because there was a large and loud convention group downstairs they we had no idea was there until leaving. Also ordered an omlette through room service, it appeared by the size that they may have used only one egg.

We stayed 2 nights for Cubs Spring Training March 08.
I don't care how nice this place appears to be, if I can't get any sleep it's getting a poor rating.
Our 1st room overlooked the 8 lane super hiway. All night long I heard traffic noise.
I called the front desk and asked to be moved to a QUIET ROOM. They were happy to move us. The 2nd room was a big ugrade from our standard room. I was very grateful and impressed. - until- at 6 AM the next morning I was woke up to laughing, noise, service carts banging dishes, that didn't seem to stop or go away. They moved us into a room ajoining a CONFERENCE CENTER. And the meeting with breakfast started at 6AM. Our room had an ajoining door to the conference center which ALL the noise came right thru. Plus, our phone was the 2nd line to the conference center and it kept ringing us into their conference calls.

Hilton Mesa-never again.

Overall my experience at the hotel so far has been great.
We origionally booked a king room and on my fiances arrival (he got here before me) he was put into a double room, they must have overbooked. But by the time I got here, Danielle at the front desk worked her magic and had us in a king room.

The hotel is open concept to the cieling in the middle of the building. This could be disturbing to families depending on what is going on because ehcos do carry, but we were not kept up because the bar does close at 11pm. We are also lucky enough that our room is in a wing that is separate from the centre of the building.

The bar is very nice, and is a nice setting at the end of the night when you want to sit and have a drink. If you want to have a drink out by the pool they are more than happy to give out styrofoam cups.

I love the pool. It is a heated outdoor pool. A very comfortable temperature. There is a waterfall in the pool which is very nice to look at also. There is a large hot tub beside the pool and also one built into the rocks. It was not hot when we went in it last night, so unless it is a cold spa, the heat must not have been working. But they did have the other one that was very warm!
There is also a LOT of room to sit around the pool and there are separate patio areas. Finding seating isnt hard and the hotel is full right now.

The rooms are a very nice size but the bathrooms are small. Its hard to share that space with someone.

The location is excellent. It is within walking distance of many shops and restaurants. There is a Hertz Rent a Car in the hotel for anyone that needs a car.

Overall I would rate the hotel as a 3++ star. (closer to 4)

Dont forget that if you need anything to ask Danielle. She seems to be the one that will go out of her way to help....politely.

  • Liked — The pool and pool area
  • Disliked — Nothing. Everything was fine.

Thank Goodness they've had a bit of a facelift at the Hilton in Mesa; the place was definitely in need of a refresh!
The lobby area is now much more welcoming and modern, with easier access to the atrium and lobby bar.

Staff at this proerty have always been very friendly and helpful, and fortunately this hasn't changed. Rooms are generally situated round the central atrium, which is pleasant and airy but can make for some noise disturbance if there's an event going on downstairs. I've stayed here when there was a wedding going on and it was impossible to sleep; obviously most of the guests were staying in the hotel so there was the general coming-and-going, but also the partying went on in the atrium are and the sound just riccochets around the place! Some rooms are not located round the atrium; if you are a light sleeper or just want to avoid disturbance as much as possible, ask for one of these.

Rooms themselves are spacious and either overlook the Fiesta Mall and highway or the park/golf course to the rear of the hotel. They all have french doors and either a 'proper' or 'juliet' balcony, but it's nice to be able to open the doors and get some fresh air, instead of relying on stuffy aircon all the time! Plenty of space for working, with wireless available in-room for $9.95 per 24h, or $49 for seven days. The business centre in the lobby is free to use and is open 24h, (access with your keycard), so if you just want to check emails etc., head there. Plus points are a good-sized and effective fridge, clock/radio alarm you can plug your mp3 payer into, plug sockets in sensible locations and lots of closet space. The bathrooms have lots of storage space for all your toiletries, but feel a bit cramped; having said that, I'd rather have the space in the main room. I always have problems with the water at the Hilton; generally, it fluctuates from cold to scalding hot very quickly and is hard to regulate; You feel that if the guests next door turn on their tap it will affect your water supply! Just be careful, especially if you've got children; definitely supervise them!

There are plenty of options for dining in the immediate area, though most are chain dining restaurants, (Red Lobster, Chipotle Grill, etc.) Shopping at the Fiesta Mall across the way is OK, though not great. The concierge can get a colleague to drive you to anywhere in the local area, subject to availability. The pool area is very pleasant but gets busy when temperatures soar!!

Definitely an excellent option in the Mesa area.

We stayed here 2 years ago and then just stayed again recently. They have made great improvements to the place in appearance. We love this hotel because of the location and friendly service. The people at the front desk and in the Honors concierge room are great. The location is near Tempe, the Fiesta Mall, and many restaurants to choose from. It is right off of HWY 60 and easy to get around the area. For kids, try the museum for youth in Mesa.
We ate at the restaurant and had a great meal.
Another improvement I would like to see is to update the gym equipment.

  • Liked — Service and Location
  • Disliked — Shower drained slow and gym needs to be updated

I booked two nights on Priceline (made two separate reservations). I live in the Phoenix area; already familiar with the immediate neighborhood around this hotel (Fiesta Mall). Parking was easy and plentiful. Room was on third floor overlooking golf course on the east side of property. Furnishings were nice but walls/doors showed signs of wear and tear.

Bathtub didn't drain very well and shower curtain didn't hold water in making bathroom floor a little wet near the tub. Had room service for one night's dinner and final breakfast - excellent, excellent food and friendly, professional attendants. Bed was comfortable. Liked the mini-fridge in the TV cabinet. Read the complaints herein about the loud AC but it didn't bother me as I always wear earplugs even at home. Bedside lamp had a dimmer switch which was very cool. Local Mesa newspaper delivered both mornings (Saturday and Sunday).

Corporate Christmas party held in atrium Sat. night but noise didn't bother me one bit. I could see being a little disappointed had I paid full rack rate, but I paid at least 1/2 off and prob. less than that via Priceline. If you book via Priceline, excellent value and a good upgrade from Motel 6 for about the same price, maybe a little more.

  • Liked — Good location and good deal on Priceline
  • Disliked — worn out walls/doors, business center computers in spotty working order

stayed here one night for a conference. Had room 401 off the elevator on the 4th floor. Room was reasonably quiet despite being near elevator and noisy atrium. Too much room airfreshener was used and room had a stink. Fortunately there were french doors
that opened to fresh air so I could air out the room. Room is starting to show its wear, especially in the bathroom where paint is peeling on the ceiling and the wallpaper has a terrible patch job. Furniture is starting to show wear. Flat panel TV was a nice touch but it was small for a big room.

I called housekeeping to get the feather pillows and blanket replaced andd they sent a guy who did not speak a word
of english. I pointed at the pillows and he would not even try to
understand. When I asked him what he spoke he said arabic.
OK in Phoenix I could understand spanish but arabic? Anyway
he came back a couple of times but would not deal with the pillows. Finally they had to send a manager up who went back down and sent the arabic guy back up with some pillows. Seemed like alot of fuss for not much help.

Finally I was annoyed that they did not have taxis on call. Apparently you have to order them ahead of time if you want a ride to the airport.

I booked a nonsmoking king but they did not have one when I got there. They put me in a nonsmoking double.

Restaurant was good but not terribly fast.

  • Liked — large spacious room, free internet, flat panel TV, comfy bed
  • Disliked — housekeeping only spoke arabic, smell in room, peeling paint
