“Cannot recommend this place enough!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 30, 2009

This place was absolutely magnificent! My girlfriend and I were so sad to leave. Looking back on our trip through Argentina, our stay here is what we miss the most.

John is an absolutely wonderful person and host. He is very friendly and very easy to talk to. When we got there, he picked us up from the bus station and gave us a tour of the town, recommending places to eat, etc (Aqua is fabulous! He will make reservations for you). He told us exactly how to get to the Falls (bus or car, bus is much cheaper) and answered all our questions. John really wants to make his guests as happy as possible. He even has a phone that he will let you use to call internationally!

The place itself is situated in a very pretty garden. The rooms are very clean and nice with A/C and free wifi. Breakfast is delicious; fresh fruit (the papaya used is grown in the garden), toast, all sorts of jams, coffee, a mixed orange and pineapple juice.

Cocktails at 7 are one of the best parts of staying at the Secret Garden. You are out on the patio with all the other guests talking and sharing experiences. Everyone we met were so friendly and a great joy to get to meet and talk to. Watch out, the drinks are kind of strong, but very good. The bruschetta and other snacks were all extremely tasty. A wonderful appetizer before going out to eat.

Because the town itself doesn't have much to do besides the Falls, I would recommend going into Paraguay or Brazil. John is more than willing to help with trips over.

The Secret Garden is the first place I would recommend to anyone traveling to see the Falls. I am so glad we decided not to stay at the Sheraton.

John and the ladies at Secret Garden helped to make my stay in Iguazu very pleasant.
The evening cocktails, snacks and breakfasts were all first class.
John is very friendly and easy to get along with. He let me use his phone to make a call back to Australia!
The room was spotless and the garden is so pretty.
I loved everything about this place, and will be telling everyone I know.
I hope they get to experience Secret Garden too.

John is a delight, hanging out with his guests and giving tips about seeing the falls or other sights. Our room was fresh and clean, sunny and bright, not fancy per se but just right. The highlight of everyone's stay there is happy hour - unlimited drinks (the Braziian nat'l drink, can't remember the name....) that are quite strong and got the party rolling! Breakfast was simple but delicious, including homemade jams that were very special. We met great people there and felt very well taken care of by John and his staff. My only disappointment is that it's a whole continent away!

I read about John's B&B on this site, and I am so glad that we stayed there. We enjoyed the drinks and meeting the other travelers each evening. And, Roxie is a character.

Besides great restaurant recommendations and getting us reservations, we also booked a driver, which was nice.

Visiting Iguazu Falls was amazing, and staying at the Secret Garden Inn made our experience more memorable.

As others have already said, I can't say enough good things about Secret Garden Iguazu. We stayed there over a long weekend in the end of June. John Fernandes, our host, was a wonderful, fascinating, funny, generous, and helpful person, and his dog, Roxy, is cute and funny (and she really rules the roost)!

We flew in on a Friday morning from Buenos Aires, and John had arranged a driver for us from the airport. John met us at the B&B and took us for a tour around town, pointing out restaurants and getting us oriented. Since we weren't heading to the falls until the next day, John recommended a local environmental project for us to visit called Aripuca. We walked back from there to our lovely, clean, beautiful, comfortable room for a shower and to meet John on the back porch for cocktails. He made us dinner reservations, and we had a wonderful evening.

Breakfast the next day was fantastic, with cafe con leche, fresh baked bread and spice cake, and fruit. Oh, and fresh squeezed orange juice! It was relaxing and just the thing we needed. We headed to the falls all day, and met John again for cocktails that evening. He was full of hints; for example, that we should have our driver meet us at the Sheraton in the park just after the park closes, so we can spend an hour or so having a drink on the patio and watching the birds come out at sunset. It was lovely.

One more day at the falls, and it was time to leave. We were a little sad, as we felt we had truly made a friend, but we definitely have great memories and pictures to take with us!

The Secret Garden Iguazu should not be missed!

The Secret Garden met all the expectations derived from reading the top reviews on TripAdvisor. Our visit was made incredibly memorable by John's hospitality - he drove us around town, supplied the best G&Ts ever, sunset cocktails, great breakfast and fascinating information about Iguazu and beyond. Thanks John and all your staff - it was fun.

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Secret Garden in late May during our trip to Iguazu Falls. John was a great host, arranging transportation to/from the airport, to/from the falls, and even giving us a tour of the city when we first arrived. He has thought of everything! After a day of hiking around the falls, it is great to come back to Secret Garden for the 7pm cocktails. Totally relaxing and refreshing! The other guests were great as well, and it was nice to be able to talk about their travels over dinner. I found the rooms to be clean and homey and the garden is magnificent. Breakfast in the morning is fabulous, with lots of fresh fruit grown right on property. Visiting the Secret Garden is a must!
