“A Great Stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 14, 2014

Wonderful accommodation. Although John was not there during our stay, Anna was a charming informed hostess in his absence! Very helpful, all recommendations for activities and dining were spot on. Enjoyed the evening cocktails and meeting fellow travellers. We were two senior couples visiting the falls after a cruise- definitely recommended.

Room Tip: Al three rooms are fine

We stayed 2 nights here, but would have loved to have had a couple more. Our host, John, was interesting, informative and accommodating. He picked us up from the bus station and gave us a brief tour of the town. The brazilian cocktails served in the evening were great, and breakfast was substantial.
he also organised a day trip for us to relax in a nearby national park. He showed us that there is much more to see and experience in iguazu than just the falls!

After traveling in South America for a few months, I felt like I was home away home and stayed more days than had originally planned. The room was quiet, comfortable and cosy, spacious, a/c worked well, good hot water and water pressure. There is a generator in case of a power failure (which is not uncommon). There are 3 supermarkets, pharmacy, and plenty of eating places within easy walking distance.

I agree completely with other reviewers that John is a fantastic host. He also gave me an orientation tour in his car when I arrived. Most of all, I am very thankful for his advice and help when I was getting my Brazil visa and planning the visit to the Brazilian side of the falls and onwards.

John is a treasure trove of knowledge and a fascinating person to talk to. We chatted for many hours over caipirinha during my stay!

There's really nowhere else to stay in Iguazu!

This is a retrospective review, having had the pleasure of staying at the secret garden b&b last month. John gives you a very warm welcome from the moment you arrive, giving you a tour of the town, and a very well made caipirinha (or two) in the evening in a lovely atmosphere on his veranda. I had a bad experience at the airport, with lost luggage, and he was very helpful in trying to sort this out for me. The b&b is a great base for visiting the waterfalls, and I would have no hesitation in recommending it to anyone visiting Iguazu.

I found this B&B on Tripadvisor. What attracted me to this location was the reviews on the service provided by John Fernandes (the owner). The reviews of great service are correct. John had a car meet us at the airport and instead of just taking us to the B&B, John took us for a personal tour of the town to get us orientated. He pointed out points of interest, the best restaurants. Then we went to the B&B. Only 3 rooms at the B&B. Rooms are nice, clean but no luxury. No phone, no TV but there is WFI. Coctails or tea every evening is included. John will be present to make sure you have directions to your restaurant (or arrange for a car). Almost everyting is only about a 10 min walk. Breakfast is just breads but adequate, but here again, John will be present to make any arrangements for your day. I found the personal service of the owner (John) to be especially nice. Service like this was invaluable for us since we were new to Aragentina and didn'n speak the language well enough to communicate. Would stay here again.

If only all B & Bs were like this. What a treat, What an experience. As hosts go they don't come much better than John who is help personified in a truly unique place that should never be kept secret - it's that good. You really don't have to worry about a thing because you will never forget your stay with John and his Jack Russell, Roxy - I promise.

Room Tip: No need - they're all good!

What a gem this place is! I stayed at Secret Garden for two nights and have absolutely no hesitation in thoroughly recommending it. John is a fantastic host, very knowledgeable and informative. We especially enjoyed the chance to sit and chat to John, and his other guests, every evening over his excellent caipirinhas. The rooms are spacious, clean and very comfortable and breakfasts are high quality, with fresh fruit salads and lovely home made jams. John is the ultimate host, giving us a tour of Puerto Iguazu when we first arrived, booking restaurants and arranging transport for our trips to the Falls (and airport transfers) at very reasonable rates. Our driver for the two days, Juan, was exceptionally good, facilitating all the border crossings and making sure we re-stamped our tickets for a cheaper park entry the next day. Thank you, John for making our stay so enjoyable.
