“A Nice Stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 30, 2012

Nice hotel, conveniently opposite the bus station from where buses to both Argentinian and Brazilian side of the falls; also buses to long haul destinations and cross border to Paraguay stop here.

Room was clean and comfortable and quiet despite being opposite the bus station and being on a main road. Buffet breakfast is excellent and staff were helpful. Swimming Pool is heated and well maintained. There is some building work in progress near the pool area but work finishes at around 5 pm and did not cause any issues.

There are several restaurants and a supermarket all within a few hundred metres of the front door plus a taxi rank opposite. A convenient place to stay for a visit to the wonderful falls.

This has to be the best located hotel in Puerto Iguazu, just up a side street opposite the main bus (and long distance coach) terminus. From there you can take the local bus out to the national park - they run every twenty minutes for just 50 peso return. Local buses also run to the Brazilian side of the falls as well.
I arrived early and after being asked to wait 5 mins in the lobby was upgraded into a better room than I had booked. The room (in the older wing of the hotel) was spacious and clean, but a little dated. However, the wi-fi was not working and I got the impression this was not the first time.
After a short delay (caused by the staff switching the router on and off to try and fix the wi-fi problem) the front desk switched me to a room in the new wing. Again very clean and spacious, lovely new bathroom, quiet AC, but probably the hardest bed in the western world. Bed notwithstanding, I would recommend trying to get a room in the new wing when you check in.
The hotel also has a good restaurant. Breakfast was a good buffet and one evening I eat there rather than go out the steak was excellent.

We had 2 lovely nights at Hotel St. George, while visiting Iguazu Falls. The breakfast buffet is nothing short of spectacular, surpassing many such buffets at upscale U.S. hotels. You'll need the fortifications for hiking the Falls, which are not to be missed. The Hotel location is perfect--1/2 block from the bus station, with a bus that takes you right to the entrance to the Falls. There are great restaurants along Av. Cordoba, a wonderful ice-cream shop, a mini-market for stocking up on bottled water and whatever else you might need; and you are within walking distance of a bank with an ATM. Our room was comfortable, quiet, and we had CNN English-language television to follow the U.S. presidential returns while we were there, which was an added bonus. Hotel staff were most gracious. If you want to stay at the Hotel St, George, plan ahead. We were so glad we had. It was totally booked and not hard to see why. Cynthia Scanlon, Sacramento, California USA

Very nice hotel and great location. I was put in the new addition, which made the stay pleasant. i could tell that some of the older parts of the hotel were worn, but acceptable. The rate is a little high, so shop around for deals. Those steps leading to front door are quite step, so let the doorman take the bags. And the internet is very slow.

Spent 2 nights here late September. Upon check in the friendly lady at reception advised me that there had been a problem with my booking and that they would have to put me in a budget room for the first night but would then move me to a suite on the 2nd night as well as provide dinner for the 2 of us in the hotel restaurant. I was sweet with that and to be honest the budget room was fine ( we'd booked a standard room ). It was clean and comfortable. The suite was huge with probably the biggest bathroom I have ever had in a hotel room.

Dinner at the restaurant was great and the breakfasts were fine. Great location with plenty of dining options within a few minutes walk and right across the road from the bus station to get the bus to the Falls. If coming back to Iguazu I would definitely stay here again. In fact I would recommend staying in the centre of town as quite a few of the other hotels are quite a distance from town and would require taxis to come in and eat, go to an ATM etc.

Having read a few recent trip advisor reviews I nearly cancelled my booking. I'm glad I didn't as the Hotel St George is perfectly adequate for a stay in Puerto Iguazu. The reception and other staff were helpful, the rooms a good size and the bed comfortable. The breakfast is also excellent. We didn't use the pool as it was raining however it was a good size (not sure about the mosquitos though). Hotel location is perfect for buses, restaurants and shopping. A dinner at nearby La Rueda was one of the best meals of our trip.

Room Tip: Our room was next to the street however wasn't really a problem. You might like to ask for one a...

I stayed two nights in St George hotel primarily, like most people, to visit The Falls
Staff at the reception were very friendly and helpful and I had a brand new room - with three beds! - in the upgraded area, I think I was the first guest in it. Very nicely decorated with super bathroom and furnishings although not quite enough furniture - only one chair but I suspect that is because of timing and that once all the renovations are completed the furnishing will be there. There is a pool and an excellent restaurant where you get a 20% discount which makes it very good value. All the staff I had contact with were very helpful, Yojanna at reception arranged a private taxi for me to do a speedy visit to the Brazilian Falls before I left even staying late to sort it out for me. Throughout Argentina I have found all the hotel staff extraordinarily helpful and friendly which makes travelling here a pleasure. I didn't check out any other hotels in the town but I can certainly recommend this one, it is easy to get around and is opposite the bus station which makes transport easy.

Room Tip: I guess the upgraded section would be the place to be as rooms are extremely clean and well furnishe...
