A very good friend of mine, who also happens to be travel agent, and Iguazu wholesale tour operator, recommended this hotel as the only real 5 star in town. (Chosen to host 3 presidential summits).
The hotel is also one of the newest (8 years, Sheraton Iguazu is 28 years old, and the brazilian side hotels are mostly builded in the 80´s). I cannot thank him enough, had a fantastic stay in Iguazu Grand!
We stayed 3 nights in 2 rooms, (party of 6). That´s how I learned that the hotel have 2 wings, although the rooms have the same size and layout, in the old wing, the bathroom has no jacuzzi, and no separated shower. The pictures I´m posting are from "my room", which is the the new wing, (finished and opened in 2005), the bathroom is truly luxurious, huge and all marble and bronze.
I have checked their website, and there´s no difference in room category or rates.
The breakfast was fine, did not have dinner at the restaurant , (found it a bit overpriced). Instead went to La Rueda in downtown, the best pasta in town!
I also found the hotel´s transfers and tours a bit overpriced.
I payed 40 pesos (about 13 dollars)each for the complete tour (guide included) to the Brazilian falls, that was about 1/3 of the price asked in the hotel kiosk.
Overall, the best luxury hotel rooms in Iguazu, and that is including the Brazilian´s Foz hotels.
