“Great place to stay for the falls”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 18, 2013 via mobile

La canterra was somewhat difficult to find in the jungle so keep an eye out for the small wooden signs leading the way. We missed them!

We used this lodge as a quick stay to see the falls so didn't really use the facilities but the pool area looked inviting.

Reading recommendations on trip advisor we skipped dinner at the lodge and went in to town. Which is only a quick drive.

Room was lovely however on the ground floor and wooden so very noisy when people above come home! Try for a top floor.

Staff were exceptionally helpful. Would recommend .

Picked up at the airport on time with a nice driver. Got upgraded to a beautiful room, a stunning view and outdoor bath. Can't complain about the place at all whilst there really, apart from the dinner.

We were told it was included in the price and proceeded to have it then be charged a small ransom for it on check out.

Apart from this a good place to stay.

I would rate this Lodge more in the range of backpacker/hostel type accommodation, to add to that our room smelt terribly, a very strong chemical smell. Whilst the room was a good size it was quite shabby with scuff marks on the walls and floor, stains on the quilt, bathroom also not clean. The jungle view from the verandah was marred by the several white poly drainage pipes that met in front of our verandah! which incidently only had one chair if we had wanted to sit out there. Being on a ground floor room and the floors are wooden it is very noisey as the occupants of the upper level come and leave. As a positive it is quite close to town and easy to catch a taxi for a meal at a restaurant. The pool looked inviting, and the barman mixed a wicked cocktail, which definitely dulled the disappointment of this underpar accommodation.

Room Tip: Don't come here unless you are happy with basic!

This was a great place to stay outside of town and in the jungle. The accomadations were excellent and the staff was acommadating. A shuttle ran into town in the evening which was nice if yiou want to go in for dinner. It is about 3 miles from town, so you need to be aware of the need for transportation to go places.

we stayed at this great place in feb 2013.... wow... loved the setting, was lucky to be placed at the back of the buildings... hated the keys.... useless... the rooms are wonderful... breakfast very ordinary... rip off for food for dinner. we opted to go to porta Iguazzu for meals, one third the price and also the wine list ... well wine was 137 pesos in la cantera, and 46 pesos in porta iguazzu...however our room was excellent and would thoroughly recommend it. even with the taxi fare, we saved over $66 australian dollars a night to go to porta iguazzu for meals and alcohol

Room Tip: if you have to stay down stairs, get a room at the back so people can't look inside... but the b...

This unique lodge is situated in the midst of a tropical rainforest. Individual buildings housing small groups of rooms are spread around the property linked by a wooden tree-canopied walkways. An inviting pool is surrounded by chaise lounges and comfy sofas near the bar. A restaurant on site offers a complimentary breakfast as well as evening dining options. Our room was large and comfortable, although with a musty odor. The staff were helpful and friendly. The restaurant dinner menu was limited to 3 choices but the food was tasty.

We loved this hotel which met every promise of its website. The only gripe I have is that signing up for free half-board when you agree to pay in $US on arrival seems not to guarantee that you won't be charged for your meals - scrutinise your bill before paying for extras on departure. The food was better than average (in Brazil) in that vegetables were glimpsed and cooking methods other than frying were used, but...the much-hyped BBQ was a disappointing collection of unrecognisable cuts and the cauliflower I homed in on turned out to be sweetbread! Breakfasts were pretty average. Catering apart, the room was quite astounding given the price - cool, excellent beds, chic bathroom and all services worked. The pool was very picturesque with abundant towels, a small bar and steamers to relax on. The staff were all charming, patient to a fault, unflinching in the face of 2 haughty Russian women who thought they were there for their sole use. We eschewed a visit to the Indian settlement nearby but there is a rough and ready pony trekking (in its loosest sense) at the end of the track and our daughter spent 2 ecstatic hours hacking (in the machete sense) through the jungle with her guide. The hotel arranged pick-up from Foz airport and the driver then acted as our personal guide, making border crossings easy, seeing us into both sides of the Falls and taking us back to Foz at 4 am - ask for Dario!

Room Tip: For more than 2 people, the villas are wonderful.
