“Chilled out jungle retreat”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 14, 2012

Rooms were great and very clean and staff were so friendly and helpful. Swimming pool area is great, would recommend chilling there for lunch and drinks. Loved relaxing in the hammock on the balcony. Free wi-fi in the rooms. Only negative was the power cuts during our stay but none of these lasted very long.

At first glance the place looks delightful. It does have a great pool, lobby and jungle setting. But our room was falling apart. I reported the broken reading lamp and jacuzzi but nothing was fixed. The second morning, we had no hot water. The lodge is far from the town and taxis are expensive, even for a short ride. I wished we had stayed in the town near restaurants. Still if travelers want to be in a jungle setting, they will find it here.

Our first impression of Aldea de la Selva was a very good one as we saw a very nice lobby, the cabins scattered in the jungle, the room was spacious, clean and nicely decorated.

Then, we started to notice some shortcomings:
- a very unpleasant odor from an unidentified source occurred few times in the room
- the restaurant serves mediocre food, definitely under the expectations provided by the price. In addition to this, as the location is outside the city, you don't really have other convenient options for dinner

The breakfast was ok for Argentina (a variety of fruits and pastries, but only one type of ham and cheese and scrambled eggs).

Open high-ceiling lodge built and furnished with old and rich wood feels like one of those old National Park lodges. Located just outside Puerto Iguazu, a short walk got me to the public bus to town and to the amazing Iguazu Falls. Staff are very friendly, greeting me with a cold glass of water when I arrived mid-day. Food is fantastic; as the complete breakfast has a huge selection that includes fresh fruit and pastries. Living units are scattered along many paths and feel private. Christian at the pool (a local) makes food and beverage available in a relaxing atmosphere. A separate little house has two computers, a bonus!

This place is idyllic. Surrounded by the jungle the hotel is quiet and tranquil. The rooms are all wooden first story buildings complete with balcony and hammock.
The room was beautiful, large, very clean and a real experience.
The staff were very friendly and helpful and the restaurant food and wine was very good.
Great location to explore falls from, organised a return taxi for us for about £25- great service and very friendly driver.
For the price this hotel is fantastic, would highly recommend if you are after a tranquil jungle experience close to the falls at a very reasonable price by European standards

The lodges are clean and functional but the best thing about this hotel is the fact the lodges are placed amongst the trees. There's wildlife everywhere you look (and listen!). The staff are very helpful and accommodating and the dining room has a good menu and range of wines - which is really important because without a car it's really difficult to get anywhere. It's a good place to stay for a couple of nights whilst you visit the falls but any longer and you would probably get bored quite quickly. Fortunately, our travel agent, Imagine Latin America, arranged a fantastic tour for us including a speedboat trip right up to the base of the falls. We got wet but it was well worth it!

Rooms are really clean and functional, but not luxorious. Beds are good. Aircon is quite noisy. If you are looking for something different from the standard hotel, this is for you. Pool area is wonderful. Staff is nice and helpful and most of them speak rather good English. Food in the restaurant is fine. However breakfast buffet is quite limited. Wifi works fine. Best hairdyer ever!!!

Great location. Good connection with the local bus to the Iguazu falls. Downtown is in walking distance, but in the evening take a taxi. It cost only 25 pesos.
