“Iguazu Falls”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 8, 2008

It's a Sheraton. Enough said. Not a great hotel, but good enough. BUT OH MY GOD THE VIEW FROM THE ROOM!!!! The Iguazu Falls have to be seen to be believe. A million times better then Niagera Falls. These falls are right in the middle of the jungle.

Make sure to also see the Falls view from the Brazil side. Well worth the visa price and travel time.

We checked into the Sheraton for 2 nights while on Honeymoon from the UK in September and were very disappointed with our stay. So much so that we would never stay at the Sheraton chain of hotels ever again.
Less than 3 hours after check in we get a note through the door advising of emergency water repairs. As a result , we were advised hot water would not be available from 8pm to 9am the following day. By 9am the next morning however, another note was passed under our door. This time neither cold or hot water would be available until 1pm. Not a big problem as we headed out to explore the falls. Though, on our return late afternoon the repair work had still not been completed. In the end, hot water was not available until 7.30pm. While I appreciate emergency situations arise from time to time there was no mention of the water problem at check in and given the USD room rates that are charged one would expect a bit more. (We did recieve some complimentary (albeit stale) cup cakes to our room in an effort to make up for the problem).
Food is also very basic and located in the middle of the park there is no other dining option so in a way they seem to be able to charge what they want for very poor quality food. Dinner in the dining area is offered on both an a la carte option and buffet option. Both choices are expensive for the quality of food that you get.
From some crazy reason having read the various reviews you do still choose to stay at this hotel as a result of its location, my suggestion would be to stay no more than two days (plenty to explore the falls) and order a pizza in the bar for a fraction of the prices charged in the dining area!!

If you're in Argentina and want to see the Iguazu Falls, this really is the only place to stay. As the only hotel in the National Park it's all so convenient, and although the hotel isn't pretty from the outside, it was built for the views and the rooms with views are great.

We loved the hotel, the food and bar service was excellent - the late start for breakfast (7am) was a tad annoying but the breakfast buffet was good.

SImilar to everyone else's - the hotel is past it's prime - but the direct access to the trails and view of the falls makes up for it.

A few tips: Falls View is better - the balconies are great for sunset and falls viewing while wine sipping

If you don't opt to upgrade, there is a rooftop area that is open until 9 with the same (albeit not private) view of the falls, as well as the lobby bar/lounge area which faces the falls.

We took the bus in from the downtown to get there which I would NOT recommend. It was a rather drawn-out saga where they wouldn't allow us access to the hotel until we paid admission to the park, whereupon they dropped my husband to walk back to pay for ticket and dropped me further up teh road ( with all of our combined luggage) havign to walk the rest of teh way up the hill of a driveway to get to the hotel. Taxis gt through no problem. Spare yourself the hassle and take the taxi.

You are basically stranded at the hotel (unless you opt for the ~$30 cab ride into Puerto Iguazu ).. so be prepared to play slighly higher prices for food/drinks etc. We bought a bottle of wine in town before coming to the hotel... smart move!

The buffet was very good as was the continental breakfast.

We split our stay between a suite and falls view. SuIte not worth it.

We booked a king room with a "Falls View." I'm not sure it was worth the additional money as the falls themselves are kind of far away. You can see them, but still...On the other hand, they should probably rename the other view "Parking Lot." as they literally overlook the parking lot and front drive of the hotel.

Room: Decent size. Tiny bathroom. Shower was very weak. Bed was comfortable. Room itself was kind of tattered. Peeling wallpaper, banged up furniture. Sliding glass door to the balcony was sticky. Just didn't feel comfortable.

Restaurants - Service was very friendly, food was pretty bad. Buffet breakfast was pretty big, but food items seem "packaged" and of poor quality. The lobby bar does have an veranda which was nice. Food prices were modest (by U.S. hotel standards).

Location - unbeatable. 20 minutes from the airport. Literally right inside the park and a very easy walk to all of the circuits. The downside is that the hotel doesn't tell you that you must pay the entry fee to the park prior to arriving at the hotel, so make sure you have local currency.

Service - The staff seemed very friendly and with the exception of one bartender who was a bit surly provided very nice service. We had a late afternoon flight and they provide a complimentary late checkout which was very convenient. Another nice amenity they provided was complimentary internet access in the lobby. They also have their own little strip mall of souvenier shops.

Overall, we didn't think the hotel provided good value for money. It seemed geared towards turning over big tour groups and not really catering to the individual traveler. If you're pressed for time, the location is excellent and will allow you to make the most of your visit to the falls, but you will pay a steep premium for the convenience.

Stay here for the view. It really is stunning. (And that's the reason I give it four stars). And being located in the park beside the falls (rather than being bussed in from hotels in the town) is priceless.

The hotel itself is not quite as good as the brand name suggests. Decor is past sell by date. Restaurant food is OK, but not stunning. Service (or rather - total absense of service) at the poolside-bar was comically awful. Yes, so it was a busy day by the pool when this happened - but a hotel trading under this brand at these prices should be able to cope with that.

I'd still love to go back - just for that view.

We stayed here in September as part of our honeymoon! From beginning to end of our trip it was absolutely amazing! From the airport pick up to the speedy check in front desk, to the lovely champagne in our room which had the most amazing views of the falls! The food in the restaurant was very good and I would recommend the BBQ buffet! Also would highly recommend the honeymoon package in the spa. Overall a fantastic stay in a really lovely hotel.
