“OK Hotel, great location”

Sheraton Iguazu Resort & Spa

My wife and 2 kids travel a lot. We are "picky" with our accommodation and usually stay in 4 or 5 star hotels. The Sheraton is 3 star max. We decided to stay here because of the location. This is the only hotel within the National Park on the Argentinian side of the Falls.
Staying within the park means you can walk to the falls and also enjoy them when the crowds have left. We found this a great advantage and I would say its worth giving up on the luxury accommodation for this benefit. The hotel is clean.
The pool is great and this is a plus given the warm weather in this region.
The Falls are not to be missed. Having been to Victoria Falls in Zambia and Niagara Falls in Canada, we have seen some of the best the world has to offer. Iguazu however, is by far the most spectacular and most definitely worth the trip.
I have read about one or two luxury hotels in the area but one has to travel to the falls by car or bus whereas staying at the Sheraton puts you literally at the Falls

“Perfect location for the falls”

Stayed only for one night - we just wanted to see the Iguazu Falls. And this hotel was perfect for that. The trails to the falls literally connected right to the hotel. We arrived in the early morning, dropped our bags and then strolled from the hotel directly to the falls. Could not have been more convenient.

The hotel is a standard sheraton hotel. The rooms were big, with comfortable bed and great bathroom. Huge breakfast in the morning - we also ate dinner there which included a huge buffet (which only made us eat more than we should have).

The hotel also had a beautiful outdoor pool - although we didn't use it as we seriously flew in to see the falls and then headed towards Paragonia. The falls though are a must see!!

The view and location are incredible and worth the visit, it is just a shame that they don't seem to care about the food! Everything else room, service, pool, were nice enough, but please sort out some decent food!!!!!

I stayed at the Sheraton for one night in August. The location was stunning. I had a falls view room, which cost extra. I thought it was worth it because the rooms have balconies and I was able to sit and listen to the falls while looking at the night sky. Absolutely wonderful. The hotel is the most convenient area hotel, as it is on the park grounds and within walking distance of the trails.

The rooms are a little dated, but comfortable. My bed was fine and the bathroom had all the amenities that I needed. It was cool enough where I could sleep with the patio door open and get nice fresh air in all night.

I would stay here again. The other hotels are quite a few miles from the park, although it is a very easy drive. You are about 10-15 miles from the nearest town (Missiones)

Okay, I will just say, if you are on a tight schedule, have money to burn or have a ton of Starwood points, stay here. All the waterfalls can be accessed by a trail that is less than a 5-minute walk away from the hotel's back door. The location in the park spoiled us. However, at $300+/nt., the hotel is pretty expensive, but then again, we did come during high season. Here's what to expect from the Good, the Bad, & the Ugly:
GOOD: The beds are VERY comfortable; every room has a balcony, big cable TV and a room safe; they give complementary bottles of water daily & chocolates on your pillow when they turn down your bedin the evening; there's a spa with a decent gym in the basement; the outdoor pool is huge and very nice; there are FREE computers available in the lobby; there are tour companies right on the premises with reasonable rates for your convenience; we found the service to be good. They screwed up with part of our reservation but made it up to us quickly, with many apologies. Only a few times was service competent but indifferent.
BAD: The food. I am a foodie and my boyfriend is a chef, so our standards may be a little skewed. To us, it's about a 4 on a scale of 1-10. In our opinion, go elsewhere, unless you only use food as sustenance. Try La Rueda or El Quincho del Tio Querida in town. They're excellent; The hotel charges $P45/stay for the gym; Many tour groups stay here (i.e. it gets very very crowded and busy during high season)
UGLY: The decor of the entire hotel - Cold tile floors, old & tacky gilded bathroom fixtures (but honestly, it's passable - I am a designer from NY, and I have been in a LOT worse places). It could use a facelift though. It's old; The walls are very, very thin, and the hallways are very acoustic. I can hear people having conversations and screaming kids running up and down the hallways (with our door closed!)

All in all, we enjoyed our stay here, and if we ever came back, we would stay here again, regardless of whether or not they had a facelift, just because we're not interested in renting a car for a few day trip.
