The people in reception/reservations at the Villaggio hotel were the best we've ever encountered in years of traveling. They assisted us immensely... providing lots of helpful information via email before our arrival, tracking down the one remaining rental car in the city and reserving it for us, directing us to wineries and printing out accompanying maps, booking a rafting trip, making dinner reservations, reconfirming our flights, and of course, welcoming us back when our flight back to Buenos Aires got canceled. (A common occurrence, I understand.) They were incredibly warm and genuine and we miss them already. A special thanks to Pablo and Silvina...even though we probably drove them crazy with our endless inquiries, they took such good care of us while we were there...always with a smile and a "don't worry" (as they all say in Argentina to tell you it's no trouble at all).

We first stayed in a "classic" room and were rather unhappy with it... though the price was great, it was really small, dark and depressing, with a view of an airshaft. We moved to a "superior" room the next night and were so much happier... we had space to spread out and were able to appreciate the value of the hotel we had found. (Breakfast and taxes are included as well!) We found the hotel through Trip Advisor and a fellow guest complimented us on finding this gem... since it hasn't made any of the guidebooks yet. One small complaint... the sheets aren't soft!

One important note: this hotel is in the CITY of Mendoza. I expected all of Mendoza to be countryside, but the Villaggio is definitely in the middle of a city. (After 2 nights here, we spent 2 nights in the country to have that experience, which we ultimately preferred, despite the wonderful service we got at this hotel!)

We stayed at this hotel two times in one week and really enjoyed it. The rooms were very comfortable and the staff was fantastic...they helped us with dinner reservations, booking tours, etc.

The only compaint we have is that one of the rooms we stayed in was a bit noisy. We could hear the TV in the adjoining room. The second room we stayed in was bigger and quieter (it was at the front of the hotel, with a view to the street).

Above all, this hotel offers great value for the price. And the staff were very warm, welcoming and helpful.

We spent New Year in Mendoza and this hotel made the stay really enjoyable.

The receptionist Barbara was brilliant, and even sorted out another hotel for an extra nights stay for us at a great rate (the Villaggio is very popular so do book ahead).

The rooms are spacious, with huge comfy beds and great hot powerful showers. The Wi-Fi connection was the best we´ve had in all of Central/South America, and the 3 free PC´s in recepiton are speedy with printing facilities etc.. too.

The only slight downside was the hot-tub and roof terrace, as there is no shade so it gets VERY hot, and the hot-tub is actually inside too, although there are windows all around it so it´s still very scenic.

Breakfast is pretty good, with lots of choice, and there are plenty of great restaurants nearby too.

All in all this is a place I´d gladly re-visit.

Hotel Villaggio is modern and centrally located. Walking distance to Mendoza's shops and restaurants. Tastefully decorated hotel and rooms.

Our only gripe with the hotel was its paper thin walls. We could hear our neighbors stirring about in their room and the hallway at 5 in the morning. Not cool. Maybe they were just loud.

The computers in the lobby are a definite bonus. The restaurant is super cute and breakfast is included.

stayed here 2 nights in dec 2007...nice...great value, clean room, contemporary feel, comfortable bed, great service.

3 computers (free) for internet access and nice bar area for espresso/wine/breakfast/late night dinner/snack. helpful staff for booking taxis and bodegas. nice location in heart of downtown. I will say... there was a funky gas smell from the bathroom drain a bit...but not terrible or a deal breaker. Compared to other prices we paid in Iguazu and BA...this hotel was a deal (290 pesos).
