We were supposed to have dinner at Azafran but while tasting wine at Vines of Mendoza, spoke to Maria who works in client services. She was winding down her day with a glass of wine herself. She suggested going to Marie antoneita for dinner. The chef was the girlfriend of the owner of 1884 restaurant. It was a bistro style food in a very modern and open kitchen setting. The food and service were excellent. My husband had the risotto and I had the steak and potatoes. To his delight, his risotto was made and presented to him in a le creuset pot. My steak and particularly potatoes were delightful. The only thing we noticed was that we were the first dinner guests for the evening--at 8:30pm. The locals eat late so other people were only coming into the restaurant when we were leaving after 10pm. Since it is a relatively new restaurant, it seems that it has not yet garnered the tourist following yet. It is only one block down the street from Vines of Mendoza on Belgrano.
