“Great value for money”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 17, 2012

This B&B is centrally located in a quiet neighborhood. Everything is within walking distance: train station, restaurants, the main squares, laundry service, and the bus-stop to the wine areas around Mendoza. The rooms are big and clean and some have a balcony. The owner, Alicia, takes good care of her guests. The breakfast is very good (pastries, bread, fruit, cereals). The rooms are really good value for money.

This isn't really a hostel; it is more like a bed & breakfast-It is in a beautiful old home. They offer a great breakfast of fresh juice, yogurt, milk and cereal, coffee and tea, toast and butter or jam, croissant or sweet roll with dulce de leche-starts around 8:30 so tell them the night before if you want to eat earlier than that. They sometimes played music which was wonderful, but often it is so quiet that it is awkward to sit in the dining room while eating with other guests nearby and total silence.
Private room with shared bathroom is 150 AR pesos, room with private bath is AR 180 pesos. The 7 rooms are spacious and most sleep 4-6. All have nice furniture, nice beds, and some have chairs. One bathroom does  not have a shower curtain so the floor gets really wet when someone uses the shower. Then it gets dirty so it gets messy. We ran out of toilet paper so had to ask them for more-it seems they only do a thorough cleaning/re-stock every 3-4 days. The wifi is great all over the house.
They give you keys to the house so you can come and go as you please. They were very relaxed about everything, so ask if you need something (in Spanish!).  They will give you soap and towels upon arrival. If you need anything, just knock on the kitchen door and someone will come out and help you. We had leftovers once and wanted to refrigerate them for a few hours; they put the leftovers in the fridge for us & retrieved them when we asked. They let us borrow a wine opener any time we asked.
There is a water container with drinking water in the dining room available all day. It is very quiet here, so you can sleep in late if you want to.
As far as the city goes: Nightlife starts here at 10 pm, when the locals go to dinner. Most shops nearby are closed between 1:30-5 pm so exchange your money and get your errands done before that time. Most restaurants stay open all day. Lots of things are closed Saturday and Sunday.

If you are looking for a party hostel, look elsewhere. If you're looking for a super quiet, relaxing stay, look no further. Our stay here was lovely. Breakfast was great, the room was spotless, and the staff was helpful and so very kind. The location is also great. Would absolutely stay here again! The only problem we had was in the front room with the windows open, there's a parking garage around the corner that has a super annoying beeping noise in the morning. However, that's no fault of the hostel at all!

We found Alojarse en Mendoza on hostel world.com but it is more of a B & B than a hostel. It's in a beautiful old home. They offer a great breakfast of fresh juice, yogurt, milk and cereal, coffee and tea, toast and butter or jam, croissant or sweet roll with dulce de leche-starts around 8:30 so tell them the night before if you want to eat earlier than that. They sometimes played music downstairs which was wonderful, but often forgot, and it is so quiet that it is awkward to sit in the dining room while eating with other guests nearby and total silence.
Private room with shared bathroom is 150 AR pesos, room with private bath is AR 180 pesos. The 7 rooms are spacious and most sleep 4 comfortably. We saw couples, families with 1 baby, and families with 2 teenagers and everyone seemed pleased with this place. All rooms have nice furniture, nice beds, and some have chairs. One bathroom does  not have a shower curtain so the floor gets really wet when someone uses the shower. Then it gets dirty because of dirt from people's shoes, so it gets messy and slippery. Hopefully they will buy one soon. Our shared bathroom ran out of toilet paper 2 times so had to ask them for more-it seems they only do a thorough cleaning/re-stock every 3-4 days. The wifi is great all over the house.

There is a water container with drinking water in the dining room available all day. It is very quiet here, so you can sleep in late if you want to. The location is great, just off San Martin. Nightlife starts here at 10 pm, when the locals go to dinner. Most shops nearby are closed between 1:30-5 pm so exchange your money and get your errands done before that time. Most restaurants stay open all day. Lots of things are closed Saturday and Sunday.

Room Tip: The room downstairs is away from all other guests and requires no stair climbing so is great if you...
