“80s nightmare”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed February 23, 2012

Location-wise the hotel is ok but it looks like a really bad ad on a travellers' magazine from the 80s. Bricks and wood, some uninteresting plants, lace curtains made of synthetic fabric. Everything is dated. From air conditioning to menu, everything fails to meet more contemporary or international standards. And believe me the result is not picturesque but sad.
Many of the rooms are equipped with some sort of central air conditioning, and the switch is located at the front desk. Follow my advice and refrain yourself from calling the receptionist to switch it on: the noise will be almost unbearable, making it quite impossible to sleep.
The restaurant service is not better. Not great variety, oily and very dull food is all they have to offer. Be on your guard if you are a vegetarian: your options will be very reduced, having to choose from a few sorts of over cooked and hard to identify "vegetables". I agree with other reviewers, it is a two stars hotel and for that a very expensive one.

A nice webpage says that is a 4-stars hotel, but with luck, maybe 2 or 3*. Located far from downtown, is in a quiet residential area (but far from downtown, around 20 blocks, you can walk them if have time). People who works on it are nice and give a good attention. The hotel have a LOT of stairs (not friendly for someone with disabilities), all structure with woods and bricks, have a nice wood ceiling on the restaurant (2nd floor). Perssonel attention is correct, restaurant is nice and good food is served. Breakfast is served at the lobby, with a little central table with a short variety as alternatives. A terrace is connected to the lobby, covered with an old green carpet and a acceptable view to the San Roque lake (there is a street in betweeen, doesn´t have a direct access to the lake). Rooms are located in the same building or in another block across the street, connected by a bridge (not for mayors or dissabilitied). Rooms are small, dark (combining bricks and black paint, also light switches were black, so it is difficult to recognize them). TV set was an old 20-inches, the remote control has tape instead of the original battery cover. It was supposed a queen-sized bed, but it really was 2 beds and matress joined. The carpet was old but clean, without smell. Also there was an old telemusic system, conected to a local radio, works correctly. The bathroom was clean but old, a very short washand and no sink, only a shower, and the cover of the WC tank was loose. Outside the room some guests smoke, will be a good idea to separate some rooms or area for smoking. Conference room is in another level, under the lobby (stairs again), it was correct. No permanent spa services, only under appointment. For me it seems that this was a 4-stars hotel from the last century, actually maybe is a 2 or 3-stars fortunately. It needs an update soon.
