“A true home away from home”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 8, 2014

Thank you Sylvia (and Indie the dog) for a lovely stay in Alta Gracia! Sylvia has done a truly amazing job of restoring a lovely old home into a modern B&B. The standard of the reconstruction she has done is totally amazing - think fancy European standard, not Argentinian at all! The house is in an absolutely perfect location, within a short walk of all attractions and many restaurants and cafes. Sylvia herself (and Indie!) go out of their way to make you feel welcome, and to inform you on where to go, what to eat, where to change money, etc. And she also had the fastest internet connection I have seen in Argentina. An absolutely perfect place to stay - don't look any further.

Everything was perfect during our recent stay at 279 Boutique in Alta Gracia. Silva and trusty concierge Indiana Jones (her loyal dog) are the perfect hosts, taking care of your every need without intruding on your vacation or work. The rooms are tastefully decorated with many original photographs and prints (some taken by Silvia), private baths, comfortable beds with fine linens and a beautiful atrium and garden area for relaxing in the evenings. Delicious breakfasts, including great cafe con leche and a selection of pastries made our stay fun, comfortable and very enjoyable. Check out her 1940s-vintage Willys jeep...she and Indy are the talk of the town as they drive around in it together...I think they even take turns driving... ;-)

If you visit Alta Gracia, a delightful small city, make a point to stay with Silvia at her wonderful B&B. The combination of value, location, charm in both lodging and hostess is unbeatable.

Silvia is thoughtful of her guests' needs and we found her engaging personality and willingness to share her knowledge of Alta Gracia and Argentina to be extremely helpful in our travels. For example, she walked us (two couples) up to the nearby Shell Station and introduced us to the owner, who very kindly showed us the best route to take to Mendoza to save time and enjoy the best scenery along the way. She then walked me and my fiance nearly all the way to the Che museum, sharing a lively commentary of the neighborhoods and town history along the way...truly, she's so personable you want to stay just to get to know her better!

We found the lodging most comfortable: quiet, GREAT beds, wonderful breakfast of baked goods, pastries and amazing OJ with great coffee and a lovely private patio to hang out on. I hope we have the chance to visit 279 Boutique B & B again!

This was our second time staying at 279, and it was just an wonderful as the first time.
Sylvia had everything ready for us from fresh baked bakery goods to cappuccinos to fresh squeezed orange juice. My wife mentioned that her back was hurting and Sylvia called her massage therapist and she came over that night and gave my wife a relaxing massage on the patio. Sylvia gave us a map and a list of things to do in the area and where to eat which was very helpful. We ate at Betos which was really nice and affordable. We love staying here and would definitely recommend this place. We also will stay here in the up coming years when we come to Alta Gracia!

We selected 279 Boutique B and B because we were looking for something small and nice that was not an urban setting. We also liked the reviews which praised Silvia as a gracious host. We were not disappointed in the property or Silvia. First, Silvia has a keen eye for aesthetics and has carefully and beautifully remodeled the B and B. Most B and B’s are not professionally designed, but this house was with an attention to detail. The beds were comfortable and the sheets and towels were immaculate. Breakfast was nice either in the dining room or the adjacent patio. Silvia makes a great cup of coffee on her Italian expresso machine. Silvia is very engaging and quickly figured out that we were looking more for relaxing and eating than site seeing. Although Alta Gracia is a small town of about 50,000, it has two very good restaurants. One is at Alta Gracia Golf Club nearby and one is at El Potrerillo de Larreta Resort and Country Club. Fine dining is at very reasonable prices. Silvia also recommended to my spouse her favorite masseuse, pedicurist and facial person. My spouse, Marion, decided to have the whole nine yards- ‘the fab three’. The masseuse and pedicurists came to the B and B for private sessions in the patio. If you are so inclined, these are real good deals with superior service at about ¼- 1/3 the US cost.
Finding the B and B was not a problem although it could have been because Alta Gracia streets were not on Google maps or my Tom Tom GPS. Interestingly, one of the previous guests has put 279 B and B on Google maps so it is there but there are no streets indicated. Nevertheless, we used our Ipad GPS to ‘dead reckon’ to the exact location. For those driving from the airport and using maps, head south to the ring highway, Ave Circunivalcion, to C5 ( Alta Gracia is indicated), take C5 to the second Alta Gracia exit ( YFP gas station on left and Esso gas station on the right), stay on this road until you come to the Tajamer ( small lake on right) and you see a small tower on right that says Tourist Information. At the next stop light, turn left, go 25 yards and take the first right on Giorella. The B and B is on your left about 100 yards ahead.

This sparkling B&B represents amazing value. We stayed at 279 in Alta Gracia for only one night in early October 2010, and wished so much that we hadn't already booked accommodation in Cordoba for the following night. We found that both the town and 279 are worth a couple of nights at least.

The rooms are top quality (a welcome change from cheap hotels at around the same price) with modern furniture and ensuite and huge comfortable beds. There are only two rooms available, so you enjoy the added sense of having the place to yourself, and you get Silvia's (the owner) famed hospitality. We arrived much earlier than the standard check-in time, but Silvia was kind enough to let us access our room before 9am - everything was clean and crisp and lovely. Breakfast is standard Argentine fare of coffee, juice and croissants/pastries.

We were lucky enough to be able to spend a bit of time chatting with Silvia, and found her to be an interesting person who is very interested in travellers and in helping you get the most out of your visit to this beautiful spot in the world.

Our stay at 279 only added to the experience of visiting Alta Gracia - a town with a number of quality attractions (apart from the UNESCO listed Jesuit estancia) within walking distance. We can't wait to visit again.

We stayed here for a few days, visited some friends. We absolutely loved this place and can´t wait to go back. Sylvia was a very nice person, made an exceptionally well and delicious breakfast every day during our stay. Very friendly and her dog was so nice (indy) I would definately suggest to stay here. Your very close to restaurants and not to far from other attractions from Alta Gracia,
Te extranamos, Sylvia los vemos pronto.
