This is a beautiful and relaxing retreat in the middle of the delta. We would highly recommend a stay at La Pascuala if visiting Buenos Aires. It is a 90-minute speedboat ride to the hotel, which seems to transport you to another world. It is a great way to see the delta area and view all the delightful houses by the riverside. The setting is so serene, such a contrast to the hustle and bustle of Buenos Aires city centre only twenty minutes away. La Pascuala itself is exquisite and the service is excellent. The individual guest lodges are raised up on stilts and each one has its own balcony with a view of the river. Our bedroom was charming with a luxurious big bathroom. The common areas are lovely and the pool is a great place to sit out and soak up the sun. The food here is amazing - it was up there with the best we had tasted in Argentina. Although there was a set menu, we couldn't have picked better ourselves. Even the little appetisers before each meal were absolutely delicious. The tranquillity of this place makes it an ideal getaway to relax and feed your soul. [As a travel tip, you can get a taxi/Remis private hire from Buenos Aires to Tigre very reasonably. However, on the return trip, we would recommend ordering a Remis private hire from Buenos Aires (as opposed to Tigre) for a safer car and a driver who will know the city better.]

We booked this hotel for a long weekend. The taxi-boat (about 90 minutes) is the first step to get disconnect ed from the city. The island is incredible, very wild and rough. It is sorrounded by channels of water and every room is a single isolated hut with a beautiful view of the river and a tastefully decoration.
Service is all inclusive and meals in general are very good, like gourmet food. Perhaps breakfast has not a big variety. There are no fruits and no cereals nor yhogurt. Only croissants with butter & jam.
The place is prepared for the mosquitos: each deck at the room has a courtain to protect the place and they have periodically fumigate the sorrounding area.
It is a perfect place to relax, very romantic and peaceful.
I know that in October 2007 is changing the owner. Let´s see how it works.

On our recent trip to Argentina, we had intended on buying airline tickets to Mendoza once we had arrived. Big mistake! The rates literally had tripled and the prospect of taking a 12 hour overnight bus ride was a bit daunting. So we scrambled to find a substitute.

We came across La Pascuala Delta Lodge in one of our guide books — it was a good review, but no one we asked (travel agency and the staff at our hotel in BsAs) knew anything about it. So, we gambled and booked three days/two nights. We were lucky and hit the jackpot! La Pascuala Delta Lodge is a treasure upriver. The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive, the rooms were luxuriously comfortable, and the food…ah, the food. Each day centered around the meals — simply amazing.

Situated on a small island in the Delta, the hotel is truly isolated. So if you’re looking for some peace and quiet and a place to relax — this is it. The only mechanical sound we heard during our stay was the occasional boat going upriver. There’s not much else to do but relax — it’s forced upon you. No television in the rooms (there are CD players, and in the library they have a bevy of music from which to choose), a big huge bathtub with a huge window that opens out to the woods making you feel that you’re taking a soak in the great outdoors. There’s plenty of board games and cards in the well appointed game room (Scrabble in Spanish for people with only a rudimentary knowledge of the language was a blast!), and plenty of books in English. For exercise, there’s a mile long hiking trail, kayaks, and paddle-boats. If the weather were a couple of degrees warmer at the time, we would have challenged swimming upriver and back as well.

We did have a couple of challenges however. The first was paying for the room. It must be done via cash or bank transfer, they do not accept credit cards. Once you’ve booked the room they’ll let you know the process – but it can get quite complicated if you’re not familiar with the system. Our second challenge was actually getting there. We decided to take the train to the marina, but the directions the lodge gave us were vague and we ended up taking the wrong line. The lodge will arrange for a raimis (hired car) to collect you at the hotel for a small fee. I highly suggest it, unless you’re up for an adventure.

But, if you get the chance, stay a couple of nights at La Pascuala. We stayed at the Inn at Blackberry Farm a few years ago and this place is totally comparable.

  • Liked — The setting
  • Disliked — Didn't "not" like anything. Housekeeping needed a little polishing, but that's it.
  • Tips/Secrets: — If you're taking the train, make sure you take the southern line.

This was truly a wonderful surprise. We knew little about this resort when we made the booking. From BA, travel to this resort involves a train ride and then a resort provided boat taxi ride to the resort - about 90 minutes. The cabins and other main buildings are built above the ground so that the land (small island) was disturbed minimally. Cabins are very spacious and attractively decorated - each with a private deck overlooking the water. The meals were absolutely wonderful - all gourmet quality. This place is very relaxing. No TVs in the room thankfully but a CD player for music if you like! Kayaks and paddleboats as well as hiking trails and swimming pool provided too.

Learned about the lodge from 'The Hotel Book'- South America, and we were very pleased with our choice. The staff were unobtrusive, and very accommodating.

Do call and plan ahead if you have your heart set on activities.

One of the cleanest hotels we have ever stayed in!

It's a ways away from the city and is meant to be a retreat.
