Let me start with the positives. Every single meal we had was excellent and fresh. They also served the best steak we have had so far in Argentina. The area reserved for dining is cozy and the kitchen staff were friendly. The grounds were well kept. The rooms were okay. They had about 5 or 6 dogs on the property and were a big hit with us--well trained and friendly.
Nevertheless I will never return to this place again. We have been traveling around the world for 6 months now and this place by far had the worst service hands down. I would give it 1 star if it weren't for the food.
#1 We confirmed our booking with the owner of the place, Enrique, well in advance and specifically asked for two rooms (1 double and 1 twin share) in the original farmhouse. He wrote in email that those rooms were available and confirmed our reservations. He also confirmed there was air conditioning. Upon arrival we are informed that both rooms were double and only 1 of the rooms was in the house we requested. The second room was on the opposite side of the property (short distance). The staff quickly divided the beds for our two friends. Then we learn that only 1 room actually has air conditioning and that too was given to someone else. Upon asking him why he didn't honor ANY of our confirmed requests, he told us that a party of 12 booked their stay through an agency and had been there since December. This 12-person party didn't like their room arrangements and demanded to get our room. He obliged their request because they booked with an agency and would have left otherwise. I understand he was in a tough position, but he should have informed us of this change before we arrived since we made a very specific request. We asked for a discount for this inconvenience and he only gave us 300 pesos off.
#2 My husband and I couldn't sleep at night due to how stuffy and hot in got in our rooms. We opened the windows for only a short time due to mosquitoes. Our room didn't even have a fan.
#3 We desperately needed to do laundry and I asked the lady in charge if I could do laundry on the property. She told me "no" and that I would have to send my laundry out and that wouldn't be possible till Saturday (the day we were checking out). I didn't believe her since I saw a laundry machine. I asked Enrique about it and he told me to leave my clothes in the laundry room and he would make sure it got done. Well it didn't. I asked the same lady again about it the following day and she said, "I don't have time to do your laundry and you have to use your own laundry detergent. You can do your own laundry but the machine won't be available for another 2-3 hours". I was upset by her rude response and by how she gave me a different answer yesterday. I spent my entire day checking on the machine, which didn't become free till 3 pm. Apparently the party of 12 were doing their laundry. Eventually I got my laundry done, but was still no pleased with her unhelpful attitude.
#4 On our last night at the place my friends and I were in our room playing a board game. Around 8pm the manager, Danielle, and another guy came into rooms asking that we pay right on the spot because he wasn't going to be there tomorrow to collect our payment. He did apologize for intruding on us. Again this was understandable, however I was super annoyed when I saw that he was there for our check out process in the morning! Why did he demand we pay the night before when he was going to be there after all? It made me feel like he didn't trust us to pay and now I was ticked off that he disrupted us the night before. Perhaps he had a good reason for being there but he should have explained himself.
#5 The entire farmhouse was overcrowded with the party of 12 and other guests staying there. We went twice to the pool area to sit on the chair or use the pool, but the guests refused to make room for us. They had been for at least 2 weeks by this point and we were only there for 2 days. They completely took over the pool area (which is very small). Then on our second day we asked Danielle about riding the horses. He said no problem but we should wait until 7pm, when it's not as hot. At 6pm I remind Danielle that we need 4 horses for 7pm. He took me to the man in charge of the horses and told him about our 7pm/4 horses reservations. At 7pm the guy tells us only 2 horses are available because the other guests are using them. We go back to the farmhouse to complain about this and the person there tells us "you can't reserve horses". I was fuming by this point. By 7:30pm the horses returned and we finally got to ride. I quickly realize it wasn't even worth the fuss. There is only a very short pathway we could actually ride the horses on. It was like a 5 mins walk each way. Totally not worth it.
The bottom line is that we were retreated like second rate guests at this farmhouse because the other guests had booked through an agency and we did not. There were several more annoyances, but it was the service that was most appalling. Don't stay here.
