Had a wonderful time here. Eating, drinking horseback riding relaxing. Would love to come some day. A very magical place and the hosts and their family are great. We were there for Christmas Eve and we had a group dinner and champagne. Was well worth the trip from Buenos Aires

We started our 3-week holiday to Argentina with a drive out to Junin and Estanica La Oriental. Coming from hectic lives in London we desperately needed a place to relax and unwind and La Oriental didn't disappoint. It is a pretty remote location outside Junin about 3 hours outside of Buenos Aires but the journey is well worth it and I couldn't recommend it highly enough, especially as a stop off on the way to Mendoza.
Estele is the absolute perfect host and was so very helpful with her advice even before we arrived in Argentina.
From the moment you arrive to moment you leave, you are made to feel welcome and the emphasis is on relaxation, enjoyment of the countryside and cracking food and wine. All the staff are so very friendly, kind and helpful.
If you are heading to Argentina you need to make sure that this Estancia is part of your itinerary!

Pluses were the overall estancia experience, walking in the grounds, horse riding with Miguel, and probably the best asado we have had. Downside was that evening meals were surprisingly poor, rooms were shabby though charming, price was very high.

We had a wonderful time here on our trip to Argentina. The location is absolutely stunning, and the old house itself is beautiful. It's a gem of a place. We loved hearing about the history of the estancia from the owners and how it has changed over the years. The food was great, and the horse and bike riding to the lagoon was a lovely way to spend your days in this beautiful part of the world. Highly recommended.

Our stay at La Oriental was awesome to say the least. Once we got there, it was total pampering and relaxation. Unfortunately, I can't say the same for the car rental with Europcar. They provided us with a car with no gas and we nearly ran out before we even hit the highway and after being promised a navigation system, we were told there weren't any available in Buenos Aires. My recommendation, don't rent from Europcar. But back to La Oriental.

We arrived the day before New Year and were greeted by Marta who was so friendly and helpful and after showing us to our lovely room, she brought us a bottle of cold white wine with which to begin our restful stay. The meals and service were wonderful. The New Years celebration was just like being with family. There was a tango show, dancing and lots and lots of great food. Estella, the owner, speaks great English so we never felt left out even though we were the only English speaking people there.

The breakfasts had fresh fruit just picked from the orchards, freshly baked breaks and croissants and homemade jams from the fruit of the orchards. I have eaten orange marmalade in England, India, France, Italy, Spain, etc. but I have never had orange marmalade like this, it was the best I've ever had. And lunch, what can I say. Roasted whole pig over an open fire - wow! How anybody can leave here without carrying off a few extra pounds, I have no idea. Thankfully, they have a great pool which we took full advantage of. They even were good enough to allow us to drive right up to the pool due to my mobility problems.

Whatever we needed, they were right there. They provided us with directions to Los Toldos, the hometown of Eva Peron, where there is a great museum in the home where she was born. They took us to the nearby lagoon where we could go canoeing and fishing if we wanted. But mostly we just enjoyed the peace and quiet of the estancia interrupted only by the chirping of the numerous variety of birds that reside there.

We hope to spend another New Year there soon.

I visited La Oriental with a friend just a little over a week ago. Its was an absolute lovely expirience and the owners have been so welcome and delightful. We went horseriding through the beautiful fields full of cattle, went mountain biking to the lake, drank Mate and ate cake left in a sweet little basket for us when we arrived at the lake! We had a lovely true Argentine meal outside on the terrace, candles lit and sung to by lots of frogs!! Amazing! The room was truly authentic, high ceilings, big fireplace, soft beds and very clean!! We enjoyed the pool and got served tea as well! I loved the whole expirience and will defenitly return with my family.

Our stay at the Estancia La Oriental was a very special and beautiful experience. I travelled with my mother and aunt who came visiting from Germany. The estancia had been warmly recommended to us by my Australian friend, who had had a wonderful family weekend. We very much enjoyed the amazing location and serene atmosphere. Miguel took me for a long horseride amongst the woods and over the plains right through the cattle! And on the other day we went to the Lagune by horse carriage with my mom and aunt. The owner-Estela-was very attentive and friendly. She showed us around her place and made us feel very welcome. Every room is different and decorated with lots of antique furniture with high ceilings and wooden floors. Lunch ("asado") was served on the lofty veranda, dinner and breakfast in the amazing dining hall. All in all we took back home wonderful memories and all agreed that we would like to go back one day!
