“Prefer this to Cafe Tortoni!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 2, 2013

In the older part of town-it's a throwback to days past. Great place for a meal and a linger. Highly recommend. The service is great and the old world touches are classy. Love the stained glass and old bar and how the waiters wear traditional livery.

“Excellent tea service!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 31, 2012

Las violetas is one of the oldest coffee/tea shops in Buenos Aires. Is not located in a touristic area but it's easy to get there (subway station a few feets away) and the district is safe and nice. The tea service is excellent, best I've had in Buenos Aires so far, both in quality and cuantity. the place is beautiful and the staff is very helpfull.

“THE place to go for tea!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 22, 2012

Las Violetas is one of the most traditional and oldest cafes of Buenos Aires. It is very well decorated and well maintained. From what i've heard it was refurbished a couple of years ago, but they kept the original style. This cafe is very well known for its tea with pastries and sandwiches. Absolutely recommend!

“Wonderful Experience!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 11, 2012

Ignore the "tourist trap" comments, because Las Violetas is anything but touristy. Came here with a few Argentine women I met on my trip and it was absolutely wonderful! The place is huge with tons of decorations -- not very modern, however it gave the feel of a very antique Argentine Cafe. Didn't see one tourist, the place was basically filled with all locals. Our service was extremely attentive and pretty fast too! Definitely recommend ordering one of their bigger promos around 100 pesos (unfortunately I can't remember the name), but you get tons of sandwiches, little cakes and facturas, as well as coffee, tea or juice! Perfect for marienda or breakfast. Definitely worth visiting if you are in Buenos Aires!
