Hi everybody! My name is Gábor Margés, 28 years old and I`am from the Netherlands. I came to BA to set up a new business unit for Class Adventure Travel. On forehand I looked for apartments but finally decided not to do that, there are better options! I wanted to integrate in the Argentinian culture quicker and there are cheaper options as well.

After spitting the internet I ended up with Giorgios House. It`s a very cozy and friendly place with an even friendlier hostess named Anastasia. She tries to help you with every question you come up with! She is willing to show you all the ins and outs of Buenos Aires and besides that she likes to party as well. Perfect combination I would say. The apartment is wel situated close to all necessary facilities. It`s a need apartment block with four rooms, three different patios, two shared bathrooms, a shared kitchen and a living room. All amenities are available. It`s good for short or long stay! Like myself, I stayed there in the beginning of September and from October 16th untill tomorrow.

Ana, thanks for everything and we`ll keep in contact!!

Gábor

What can I write that has not already been written? When doing research I thought that the reviews were too good to be true but then again, I'm on TripAdvisor. With experience I can say this is about my best foreign lodging experience ever, so much so that when I return to Bs As, this is the only place I want to stay! Ditch the predictable touristy spots and stay in Ana's home - it's safe (it takes 3 locks, a lift and 7 floors to get to her place), clean, decorated beautifully with organic elements and centrally located to everything and everywhere. It's not sterile like most hotels and she's "The hostess with the mostest"... not only can she give you the best advice as to what to see and how to get there (touristy spots if you like, and the hidden gems of the city), she'll even introduce you to her favorite local "parilla sucia" and give you free education on the history of the city, the language, its people and of course, tango. You're in store for lively, intellectual conversation with the gracious and knowledgeable former tour guide. I felt totally immersed in what Buenos Aires IS...passion, not lust... a liveliness for life. The icing on the cake is the reasonable price. Here, for the length of your stay you can "be a porteño" instead of the obvious tourist.

  • Liked — Everything, but specifically, the location
  • Disliked — the very old lift that broke 3 times on our last day (try getting luggage down 7 floors)

Great value for BA. The owners are very nice and allow you to see a unique perspective of the city from people who grew up there. Having access to the kitchen is nice and helps to save money on eating out.

The rooms are nice. One room off the main living room is affected by mechanical noise from the elevator. I would recommend staying in one of the three rooms off the back of the apartment rather than the one room off the living room.

Close to the subte, but not many sights close to the hotel. We ended up taking taxis most nights. Fortunately, BA has ample and cheap taxi service.

Choosing to stay at Giorgio's was probably one of the best accommodation decisions I have ever made, having traveled extensively around the world. The rooms look exactly as they are portrayed in the hotel's photos. Check them out at http://buenosaires.giorgioshouse.com/.

Ana is the best hotel manager that an English-speaking tourist can ever hope for. She speaks good English, she knows all the must-see places in B.A. and recommends them enthusiastically, she is full of initiative, caring and extremely helpful (even when she is suffering from a bad toothache and her face is all swollen on one side). On top of that, she was a friend to me when I was unexpectedly stranded in B.A. I did not have much opportunity to interact with Irina - Ana's sister, but from our limited contact, I think she'll be just like her sister!

Another enjoyable aspect of staying at Giorgio's is the homely feeling of the place. Everybody staying there knows everyone else as the place is so small. I am truly glad to have met and befriended the other guests staying at Giorgio's while I was there.

Also, I think that the price and location of Giorgio's is excellent.

Overall, after having stayed there for 6 nights, I have no complaints and only praises for Giorgio's House and its wonderful manager.

Just returned from Buenos Aires where I stayed in the most incredible guest house. I am a frequent worldwide traveler, and believed that I had experienced hospitality in other places. However, nothing has ever been close to the experience at Giorgio's House. This beautiful gem is tucked away on the top floor of a very safe Buenos Aires neighborhood. A few steps to the Subte and extensive bus network making it only 10 - 15 minutes away from the main attractions of this fabulous city. The generous size rooms are bright and airy. Although I was not exactly thrilled about sharing a bathroom, this was so insignificant that while I was there, I didn't give it a second thought. The manager of Giorgio's House ensured an experience that will never be forgotten. Highly recommended for solo travelers.
