I just got back from a long weekend in Buenos Aires (my first visit) and I can't wait to return again soon. Giorgio's House is a fantastic reprieve from the typical tourist/hotel experience. The pictures on their website do a great job of showing what the place looks like but are not able to convey the warmth and cozy hospitality that you get when you stay here.
For a very reasonable price, you have the convenience of being in your own place (with roommates of course since this is 4-bedroom /2 bathroom apt - but no worries since each bedroom has its own lock). You also have all other rooms that come in a normal apartment set up (i.e. kitchen, living room, dining room and 3 patios).
Giorgio's House is in a great location. Although not located in the center of town (thank goodness!), you're not too far away from there because a short walk to the corner will take you to the subway (Line A) which can get you to the city center (or other areas) in a short amount of time. Buses also are close by and run regularly, providing another very inexpensive transportation option. And of course, there are always cabs which usually cost $3-$6 depending on how far you're traveling.
The staff, Irina & Anastasia, are truly wonderful and go out of their way to make sure you are comfortable and feel like a friend staying in their home. Although they do have "day-jobs" and their own personal lives, if they have the time you might be able to get them to show you some of the sights either in the local area or around town. These ladies are a lot of fun and have a true love/passion for their beautiful city. They also give great advice on things to see and do so that you get a more authentic B.A. experience.
Giorgio's House - B.A. is relatively new (they opened in March 08). Right now, it is still one of the best kept secrets in town, but once the word gets out, people will have to queue to get a reservation at this place. I'd definitely consider it to be my home away from home when staying in this city. If you're planning a trip soon and want a true B.A. experience, look no further than here.
