I stayed at the Esplendor Palermo for three nights in February and had an overall pleasant experience. The hotel is well situated in the Palermo barrio of BA, which is hip and populated largely by locals. At first, the hotels immediate surroundings doesn't look like much, but it is only a few blocks from the center of hipness along Honduras.
The room was decent size, clean and modern looking, with a flat TV and a very small balcony. Air conditioning was controlled via a cool remote and it worked extremely well (since it was summer in BA). The room didn't have an alarm clock and just a very simple one-line phone. The wireless Internet didn't work well, but there is one Mac with Internet in the lobby.
The bathroom was more form than function. Some things just didn't make much sense, but then, it's not a business hotel. A bit stingy on the towels. The sink was in the living area, which is great if you have two people traveling.
The included breakfast was fine, but nothing special. Mainly things like pre-fab muffins and cakes and fruits, but enough to get the day started.
The hotel also has a nice little roof deck with a few decent chairs. And a cool waterfall.
Staff was friendly and spoke English well (which can be rare in BA). We arrive early on an overnight flight and we were given a room well before the regular check-in time.
Overall, it's a nice hotel in a cool area, especially for the price of $123 a night. I broke up my week stay by also staying more centrally in downtown, which I would recommend to anyone. Radio cabs are safe and cheap, usually not more that 3 or 4 US Dollars for most rides.
Overall, very enjoyable stay. And you have to try Don Julio's for amazing steaks just a few blocks from the hotel. Great food in a cool restaurant full of locals. Order Lomo, which is their tenderloin (about $10 US).
