I loved this place. It is close to just about everything--the obelisk, Recoleta, the Plaza de Mayo, restaurants, cafes, parks, places to run, buses, the subway, etc. The breakfast is wonderful. You can enjoy the view from your personal patio. The common room has a tv, dvds, stereo system, etc. The wireless is fantastic--I used sykpe many times a day and never had a problem. There is also a computer in the common room for people to use.

But what makes this place REALLY stand-out (and I've stayed at B&B's all over South America) is Paz, the owner. She goes out of her way to make everyone feel comfortable and at home; she'll help you find your way around the city, give travel advice, etc....she was INCREDIBLY accommodating and considerate. Lorena, who makes breakfast and assists during the day, is also fantastic. Together, they make the place a lot of fun.

This place is also incredibly cozy and clean, and I say this as someone who is ridiculously paranoid about dirt. I actually walked around barefoot, which I almost NEVER do in guest houses, B&Bs, or even 4 star hotels, for that matter! The beds are really comfortable and the sheets are totally white. Even the bathrooms are spotless.

I should also add that I am a grad student and found this place perfect as a research base. Its location (close to buses, the subway, and walkable to most places I needed) is unbeatable. Each bedroom has cozy desks, chairs and shelves and/or nightstands for books. There is coffee. Paz goes out of her way to make sure you have what you need (plug converters, power strips, etc). And did I mention the wireless?

Also, I traveled as a single young woman and I felt very safe in this neighborhood (I was never out alone in the middle of the night or anything, but I had no problem at all walking around by myself early in the morning or late in the evenings).

Though I was in BsAs for research, there were also honeymooners, backpackers, vacationing young professionals, etc. This house (or, more accurately, Paz!) just seems to attract a great group of people; in the evenings people often sit on the porch or in the garden and drink wine and talk for hours. I cannot recommend this place more highly.

We lost our apartment and needed a place to stay for 6 days. Paz saved our vacation experience by providing a nice home on a short notice. We got lucky because soon after the rooms filled up. Everybody was very friendly. We enjoyed the central location, the fresh squeezed oj for breakfast, the internet access and the talks in living area and kitchen. Nice patio, too!
The only things that were a little annoying to me were that the small single beds were too short for me(6'2) and the door didn't lock properly and blew open constantly. But Paz quickly made the sofa to a very comfortable bed for me. She always would do anything to make sure you're comfortable.
The central location does make it a little noisy but it was no problem for me but it might for others. I would go back any time.

When I first made the decision to move to Buenos Aires, a friend who had recently traveled to the city sent me the contact information of the owner of Yira Yira Guest House, Paz, and insisted that I stay there when I first arrived to the city. I contacted Paz and within the day my reservation was booked. My stay at Yira Yira greatly exceeded my expectations. It was clean, friendly and perfectly located. After a week-long stay, I moved in with a host-family. Unfortunately, after my month-long stay with my host-family came to an end, I was once again left without a home. I quickly contacted Paz and without notice, she made room for me to stay at Yira Yira. She even contacted people she knew, in hopes to help me find a permanent living situation. Yira Yira is the best hostel I have ever visited and I highly recommend anyone traveling to the amazing city of Buenos Aires to stay at Yira Yira.

It is all in the details...After staying mostly in youth hostels throughout Brazil and Argentina (and at times feeling a bit old), my husband and I were delighted to stumble on this special sanctuary. Paz, meaning peace in Spanish, has created just that...peace. It has all the feeling of home, top notch cleanliness, old architectural details with modern amenities and the ability to connect with like minded fellow travelers. Reading lights on the night stand, comfy sofas and an afternoon cup of tea are the small details that make this such a special place. Our stay was just too short...but should I return to Buenos Aires, I will not think of staying anywhere else.

Yira Yira is centrally located (super close to the subte and in walking distance from Santa Fe as well as tourist sites such as the Casa Rosada, etc). Moreover, it's shockingly (and almost obsessively) clean and well kept (e.g. new mattresses, pillows, blankets... the floors even in unused rooms were mopped every day).

And it's mac friendly. Wireless internet is part of the package.

I'm definitely coming back whenever I visit BsAs again.

  • Liked — that I could tool around on the web on my laptop from the comfort of my clean bed for cheap.
