“Loved Vain Boutique Hotel in Palermo district!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 31, 2008

We had a wonderful experience. The hotel offers many little details you will not find in other hotels ... besides, the people were so nice and always willing to assist in anyway. The service is personalized and the entire staff make you feel at home. We had a great time and certainly recommend this small, but quaint, place to anyone who is not interested in a big impersonal hotel.

We stayed for a couple of days at the Vain as our homebase in the Palermo neighborhood.

The summary: great location and staff. Small and noisy rooms.

But that seems to be the rule with most of the boutique hotels in that part of BsAs (overall I preferred the Soho All suites and Vitrum).

For once it wasn't street noise but from the people walking in the corridor and smashing their doors close... The room (a junior suite!) was very small: we could just fit our luggage and then walk around it. The bed was the smallest I slept in in the last 5 or 10 years. The bathroom while clean was also quite small.

The breakfast is good but very limited (a couple of options) and gets boring after 2 days. They don't serve lunch nor dinner (but can prep some sandwiches if you ask early enough): a good reason to check all the hip restaurants in the neighborhood.

They have a very nice loft on the top floor of the hotel where you can relax. Pretty nice. And another very positive point: their staff speaks very good english. And free wifi.

  • Liked — The location and staff
  • Disliked — Small rooms, limited breakfast, noise

First of all, thank you for your comment.

Regarding your first comment, during the restoring of the house, we had to make some decisions on whether to keep some things from the original house, or changing them for modern ones. In the case of the room´s doors, as they are very characteristic in houses of the beginning of last century, we have chosen to restore the original doors, only changing the window´s glasses to more secure ones, and the locks to a modern card system.
However, through the surveys that our guests kindly take the time to fill, we learned that although these original doors (that have windows) have curtains and black-outs, some of our guests had the feeling of “lack of privacy”, therefore, we tinted the glasses.
After that, we realize through other comments like yours, that we had put our efforts to isolate the front rooms from the street noise, but that we needed improvement on the internal noise. Hence, a couple of weeks ago we finished isolating all doors and windows of the hotel.
Secondly, I am really surprised about the comment on breakfast, because we actually have no limit on our breakfast! We give 3 suggestions on menus plus some specialties, but we encourage our guests to combine them, or even ask for things outside the menu, and we do our best to please them. Even though this is written in the menu, we are failing in communicating it to our guests; therefore we are improving the menus.

As you see, this is a clear example that your comments help us to improve, so I thank you again for taking your time to review us, and we hope to have you staying again at VAIN soon.

We stayed at Vain Boutique Hotel with my wife for a couple of weeks in September. It was a pleasure to be able to enjoy the warm, welcoming ambiance of this perfect-sized hotel during these two weeks. The hotel is conveniently located in one of Buenos Aires' hottest districts, so we were within walking distance of the greatest dining and shopping. Everything worked as a charm during our stay; from our nicely furnished room to the delicious breakfast to the great roof-top terrace where we could have a nice glass of wine in the afternoon. The staff is really kind and knowledgeable and they will always go the extra mile to help you with anything you need. We loved our stay in Buenos Aires and we are definitely going back next year. And when we do, we will definitely stay at this hotel again.

My family, including myself, husband and two young daughters, my mother, my brother, his wife and two daughters all visited Buenos Aires this August for a family wedding, staying a little over two weeks. After some research we all booked at the wonderful Vain Boutique Hotel.

We were delighted with our stay. The rooms were a very comfortable size (even with a 5 and two year old!) and they were decorated in a sleek modern style that felt both upscale and livable. The staff was always there for us, offering advice, directions and useful suggestions. We even had an, um, incident, with our two-year-old in the middle of the night and needed a change of sheets. They came up and took care of us even though we were practically too tired to stand. Plus, the breakfasts were first rate! Fresh, wonderful fruit, delicious strong coffee and rich hot chocolate for the kids. Great egg dishes and a mouth watering assortment of breads and pastries. Also, a nice plus is the breakfast ran into the late morning so no rushing especially with little ones.

This hotel felt like one of those rare, great finds that you almost don't want to tell folks about in fear that it will get too crowded. However, anyone traveling to Buenos Aires, whether a couple or a family, can feel very confident choosing this great accommodation for their stay.

I stayed at the VAIN Boutique Hotel with my newly wed wife and after having travelled quite a bit in Argentina we really enjoyed the atmosphere in this beautiful hotel. It's location is very convenient and close by anything you would like on a short fun trip to amazing Buenos Aires. The interior is nicely decorated and cosy at the same time. Staff was highly attentive and helpful. We highly recommend the Vain Boutique Hotel for anyone who likes a little luxury and style without wanting to end up in one of those big chains that look the same all over the world. Vain gives a charismatic taste of modern Buenos Aires.

Vain Boutique is small but perfect. During my 6 nights in Vain Boutique I felt warm a received good service. The staffs can speak English and Spanish, no any problem of communication. What ever you ask always give you a polite answer. The breakfast is also delicious, make a man so hungry can be filled in stomach. I hope I can visit Vain Boutique and Argentina again!

I stayed at the Vain for 5 nights. The location is great: 2 blocks from Plaza Italia and subway, zoo, botanical garden; located in Palermo Soho, full of little funky shops and restaurants. Totally safe area, contrary to what some previous reviews said. we had a room on the 1st floor facing the courtyard and it was very quiet.
Hotel staff was very nice and helpful. Nice breakfast included in price of room. Hotel has free wifi access, and a cozy rooftop lounge (indoor and outdoor parts). Also, all the rooms have a safe big enough for a laptop.
Negatives: small rooms(we had the N room, which is tiny), bathroom sink was small so you got water on the floor if tried to wash your face, and it was very very warm in the room and we could not control the temperature. Left the window open to make it tolerable.
