“A very friendly hotel.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 weeks ago

My first experience of hotel employee on checking in was very positive. Hotel staff in all departments were very warm, polite, and very keen to help to resolve any issues. Good breakfast available every morning. I would not hesitate to stay again.

The hotel structure is amazing: great architecture and design.
The location is ok. It seems to be dangerous at first, but we had no problem. We walked in the neighborhood at different times.
We had a problem when we arrived: there was no hot water. For a hotel, this is indispensable. It´s the same as if you arrive in a restaurant and they say: "I´m sorry, we are running out of food".
It was solved about 2 hours later, but we got pissed off.
Another problem: we confimed the reservation about 4 or 5 months earlier because they offered a really good price. When we were checking out they wanted to charge us a higher price (the total amount as if it was the daily price). The person who did the reservation no longer worked there and we solved it after talking to the responsible for the reservation area.
Anyway, we got pissed off for the second time.
PS.: The hotel brand have changed, I´m not sure if it happened recently. This property is the former Axel. They did not make all the changes: the outfit and communication material remain with previous brand. This is horrible for the marketing, it causes misunderstanding and lack of identity.

The street that this hotel is on isn't the prettiest of streets, but the minute you walk into the hotel it is quite cool with their use of building materials. All the staff are super friendly and most know some, if not fluent in, English.
Breakfast isn't too bad, has the basics. The rooms are great, housekeeping are on the ball. the front desk help with everything from booking transport to weighing your luggage before you leave! The pool/spa/sauna/gym level is extra to access, but is only 20pesos a day!

I booked this hotel for the price and the four star rating. The staff was wonderful and very helpful. The modern design with concrete floor was cold and uninviting. The rooms are tiny, not just small with concrete floor and nothing on the concrete walls. Spa shower was great, but that was it. No shower door and no where to put your toiletries. Bed was comfortable and we requested the back of hotel so it was quiet. Though the hotel is in walking distance to many things, it is in a undesirable location. We were told by a friend who picked us up that it is an unsafe area and not to walk at night. For Americans in particular, you would not enjoy this hotel. They charge you $20 a day to use what they call a spa. It is a pool, whirlpool and sauna. Not anything special. I've never been charged to use a pool before. Breakfast was not included. That is another $10 per person a day. If it was not for the wonderful staff, I would rate this lower.

We originally planned to stay in this hotel for a three night trip to Buenos Aires, but decided to extend for a week. I couldn't fault the service in the hotel. The pool was clean and tidy with great showers and sun loungers. The rooms were cleaned daily and each time i re-entered the room it was perfectly clean and organised. The location was good, with a wine shop opposite and the surrounding area had some amazing restaurants and bars.. It was a short walk to San Telmo, and a five minute walk to the nearest Tube stops..

Lionel who works on the reception during most days, was incredibly friendly and helpful and made our stay a pleasant one, and i would certainly stay here again... We met some great friends at this hotel and have some very happy memories.

The rooms may be slightly in need of a little maintenance, but the hotel is currently being updated, so they are taking action towards this...

First hotel I've ever stayed in where there is no floor covering. Everywhere is concrete. It's a very modern design which won't suit everyone. And as with all modern buildings, when they are new they look fabulous (as I'm sure this did when it belonged to Axel chain) but some years later it looks a bit tired. Pool area was ok and breakfast was limited. No view to speak of from the room and if you are a light sleeper insist on a room at the back as our room overlooked the noisy road below (bin collections at 1am and commuter traffic from 7am). On the plus side, it was very clean the bed was comfortable and the staff were courteous.

This hotel has changed owner end of 2013. From a adult only hotel it changed to low budget travelers hotel, open to kids without warning us (we booked few months before the change). This hotel need major remodelation, furnitures around the pool is broken, pool is not clean, a layer of dust all around! The rooms are noisy. No service is provided. We had to wait around 40 min for them to do our check out. Rooms need to be refurbished, mold around the shower, broken doors, rusted closet. Old Towels which are shreding! And even the amenities is not refilled everyday, so when your shampoo is over you need to run after the maid!
