Compared to western hotels the rooms are small and they dont have windows as we know them, but my guess is this is standard for this type of hotel in Buenos Aires.

I am a single male and always prefer to be pampered by female staff, so if I say an all male staff are fantastic they must be good - and these guys were wonderful. They made my stay worthwhile (7 days all in all).

Security was great

The hotel had character. I personally prefer western style hotels but if I stayed in a more expensive hotel I dont think I would have enjoyed it anywhere as much as I did staying here.

We stayed here on two separate occasions - the night we arrived in Buenos Aires and the night before we left. Both times all the staff were incredibly helpful and friendly!

The rooms we stayed in were clean and comfortable and very pretty. The bathrooms were great and the shower fantastic

Breakfast was also delicious with a great variety of things to choose from.

The only tiny issue we had (and to be fair it didn't really bother us that much as we had a great stay) was that the first room we stayed in had what looked like a painted column in the middle of the room. As we dicovered later that night, it turned out to be the toilet pipe from the room above. Not very pleasant so if you are going to stay there (and I would recommend it despite the pipe!), ask not to be in room 107!

  • Liked — Really friendly staff, lovely rooms, great breakfast
  • Disliked — The poo pipe in room 107...

Its nice to visit a hotel where the welcome is genuinely friendly and welcoming.
The hotel has nice (though smallish) rooms
Comfortable beds,
Clean sheets and nice decor,
Very clean bathroom,
Air Conditioning,
Television and Wifi access for free,
A good basic breakfast,
A beautiful roof terrace,
Very friendly staff, lots of tips and advice of restaurants and things to do. All spoke some English,
Great location – close to the Sunday markets.
Able to book via Expedia.

There were no bad points to mention from our stay, though the surrounding area is a little shabby, but no worse than the rest of BA.

We also stayed in a five star hotel in BA, but enjoyed our time in Don Telmo much more!

Its a great hotel, if you just want a base for your adventures rather than a destination hotel.

  • Liked — friendly staff, keen to help you explore buenos aires
  • Disliked — having paid for a crap five star hotel earlier in the week when we could have stayed here!

This was a great little find! Very cheap, and in a handy location (the street itself isn't great, but it's a quick walk to the centre of San Telmo, and to the Microcentre). The building's lovely with lots of character and some charming details. The room we had was small, but nicely done and again managed to retain character. The free internet was a bonus, and the roof terrace was great!
My main complaint was that there was no air conditioning in our room, and there was only a ceiling fan, which helped, but not enough in the heat of summer.

The best thing about this hotel is the staff - they are a friendly bunch and try to make your stay pleasant.

Overall the hotel is clean and tidy, with a character. Of course, if you want 4-5 stars, do not bother, but if you want a decent place to crash with wi-fi Internet and a practical breakfast, Don Telmo is a good candidate.

The location is good - close to the historical center, Microcenter, La Boca, Puerto Madero etc. The street (Mexiko) itself is quite dirty and casual but safe and OK. Again, if you fancy chic, there is Avenida Alvaer in Recoleta :)

I stayed 2 times over a period of one week there, they also allowed me to leave my suitcase at the hotel for 3 days so I could travel to Iguazu light.
