My wife and I spent a long Thanksgiving weekend in Buenos Aires. When we checked in, thought the room was great but the San Telmo location a bit sketchy. But when we were shopping in one of the seemingly safe ritzy areas of BA (Recoleta - by Four Seasons and Cartier store) - we were MUGGED by two guys on the street with a third driving the getaway motorcycle. They got her watch but nothing else - though totally shook us up and angered us with the nearby policemen's total nonchalance in doing ANYTHING about it.
Which brings us back to our return to Moreno - we told them what happened - the staff (particularly Juan Pablo and Diana) were SO concerned about the incident and our comfort that we felt much better, at least relatively.
They (and Guido and another Juan) took care of all dinner reservations, tango shows, cabs, etc. to make sure the rest of the stay was as nice as possible. And you don't have to be mugged to be treated well, they were great to all guests!
The Extra Large room was really good size and had steady (and free) wireless internet connections which was great for the two computers we had.
Their dinner recommendations were very good and Moreno turned out to be a good place to be based in as we checked out other areas (including Palermo and a return to the scene of the crime in Recoleta). Don't let first impressions throw you - both of the neighborhood (which turned out to be fine) and the entrance (which looks narrow and doesn't do the place justice) - this is a great place!
Nice as the facilities were, what sets this apart is that they were the most service-oriented concierge people I've come across. Thanks to all for making the stay - which got off to such a horrid start - ultimately a good week!
